Scar A Case With Companions Final Part
A Closed Case
And A Nasty Shock
Within the hour they were taken to the police station where Scar handed in her phone, which had been on and recorded everything. She and the twins explained everything to them. Then a police officer, Detective Smith, walked in.
“Well, Bea, Brit, what are youfoung here?”
“Sorry dad, it’s just Scar was investigating that dead guy Bea saw get killed the other day.”
“And ’cause she’s always in ’n’ out of hospital with terrible injuries.”
“We were worried about her so we followed her.”
He nodded with a stern frown.
“But we didn’t know what we were getting into until we were caught! Promise!”
“Well, your mum will be coming soon. She has been worried about you all afternoon. You know that she’s a busy woman and she gets worried when you don’t come home. Do you remember when you spent a whole day looking for that cat?”
They looked down red and nodded.
“Honestly, you’re lucky that Scar called ahead or I don’t know what would have happened!”
That was when Britannia’s eyes widened.
“You did?!”
“Yes. I was hoping to get all the information that I could on that phone. Logic told me that they would confess everything to a kid like me rather than an adult although, I never expected that they were Evil Organisation until they tried to kill me.” She explained in nearly a whisper.
“Well, you were right and the man will be in jail tonight.”
“Then keep him guarded.” Scar whispered, warningly. “And make it…someone…that…you can trust!”
Scar let out a huff as she rubbed her throat.
“Will do. And, young Detective, get a doctor to look at that!”
“Yes daad!” She whispered sarcastically, smiling as she nodded.
“Good girl.”
“But if only you were! I would love that!”
“Yeah!”
“What?”
“If he was your dad!”
“Yeah that would be so much fun.”
She let out a whisper and she bowed her head and shook it.
Then the door opened.
“Oh! Britannia, Beatrice!” Called a voice that made Scar freeze up, it was a voice that she knew very well. A voice that sent a shockwave throughout her entire body. Her heart hammered in her head as her eyes slid to the left. Her head barely moved as none other than Morana herself was barely inches beside her.
“Are you alright?”
No, no, no! Why? Why did it have to be her?
“Yeah!”
No, don’t point me out! Please, don’t point me out to her! She’s gonna hurt me! She’s gonna try and kill me again!
Mum! Why did you have to die?
“Scar took good care of us!”
Scar looked away before she could see her face. Yet upon the moment she felt her eyes on her she knew that it was already too late. She could feel the predatorial, mocking eyes upon her. Almost like she could sense that she was already thinking about what she was going to do to her.
“She did, did she?”
“Yeah!”
“She didn’t let us get hurt and everything!”
“Really?”
“Really mum.”
What is this? What even is this? What is going on? What is even going on? Hold on! Wasn’t there a photo on her desk with two babies?
Then-
“Mum, she even helped us keep calm.”
No, no please, no! Stop! Just stop! Please! She’s gonna kill me! She’s gonna kill me!
“She did?”
I need to get out of here. I need to get out of here now! I need to run away home before she gets me!
She could feel her heart sinking as she felt a lump in her throat. She felt her body shake slightly as she got up.
“What’s wrong? Do you know her?”
“She-”
What do I say? What can I say?
Well I can’t say that I’m her kid too. After all, how can I? She could easily dispute that and…
Her eyes slid to Beatrice and Britannia, who really were her sisters. Sisters that she could never have a sisterly bond with. After all,how could she? How could she when she could not even tell them that they even were sisters. Yet she remembered all the tales that they had told about her and she could not deny…
I can’t take that away from them. I just can’t take their mother away from them like how mine was taken by that very same organisation that almost took away my sisters.
“She was a client of mine.”
“Really? I never knew.”
“It was too minor for you. She didn’t want to inconvenience you with something so small. Now I have to go.”
She then turned to leave.
“Will you be able to come to school tomorrow?”
“I-I don’t know. I’ll have to ask the doctor about that.” She said as she left.
She walked as fast as she could without drawing any attention to herself. She could feel the lump in her throat becoming bigger and bigger as she walked and walked. She could feel a dagger in her, stabbing her deeply. Somehow it stabbed her deeper than her heart. Even deeper than a sword piercing right through her.
She could feel her eyes becoming watery and, once she was safely out of the police station she broke out into a run. Her feet beat the ground like rain. She tried not to cry, but she could not stop herself. She ran and ran. She dared not stop for one second. She could feel her tears suffocating her as she pushed herself on and on. She was soon weeping and her knee hit the ground. Yet despite weeping she forced herself back up and pushed herself further and further. She ran and ran until she reached home.
She then ran through the door and closed it behind her. She collapsed and broke down in tears that suffocated her. She could do nothing else but curl up there where she cried and cried.
She thought about Beatrice and Britannia, the way she looked at them and how she looked at her. The way she always looked at her. Sbe remembered how she was worried about them and how she had tried to kill her. She remembered how they spoke about her and how they felt safest with her and how little she felt safe with her. She remembered how she treated them with love and how she showed her nothing but hate.
She would never have that, but they would. No, they would have mum and she would be an enemy. Someone to fear, someone to avoid. Someone who would constantly try to kill her day in and day out and they would have her arm to run into and be protected from all of the evil of the world. Meanwhile she would never have such protection or love.
She let out a cry in pain as the tears turned to weeping. She pulled down her hat and clutched itad her body shook with each hiccup. Shd felt more and more tears flow down her face like rain. She wept until she fell asleep. She then felt a hand on her.
“Why don’t you go back to your real kids and leave me alone!” She shouted.
Then her face dropped to see the witches greeting her. Her eyes widened as she let out a scream.
“Well, I didn’t expect that! That’s no way to treat us. Not after all we have done for you. Maybe you need a reminder of who we are?”
She felt her breathing became rapid.
“W-”
“I told you. We will be arriving here on the first of March. I hope you make the right choice.”
She woke up screaming. Then she felt a hand on her throat. She slapped it away. Her eyes darted up to see Morana above her. She shot up her eyes wide and her mind in a panic sharpness.
“What are you doing here?”
“This…is…where…I….live! You know that!”
She jumped as she slapped her.
“No. At the same school as my daughters.”
“That…” She could feel her voice failing her. “That’s….s-school…is….what…mum…chose. Didn’t…know!”
She felt a punch in the face. She felt that stabbing feeling in her chest and the tears welling up.
“No. I never chose anything for you!”
Not true. You chose to kill me!
“Not you!”
She frowned.
“What?”
Knowing her voice was almost at it’s limit, she pointed to the nearest family photograph. She looked at it and nodded.
“Do you intend to continue to go to that school?”
“Don’t know…but the witches…”
She huffed.
“What about them?”
“The-they’re…back.”
She looked at her as if she had done something disgusting.
“What?”
“M-March. They’re c-coming for me.”
She smiled as she raised her eyebrow.
“Well go to them and don’t you dare let them come anywhere near my family.”
She nodded and she looked down and nodded. She could feel her tears coming. She looked away, not wanting for her to see the tears, knowing that it would do nothing for her but to give this woman who claimed to give birth to her something to smile about.
“G-go away.” She whispered. “J-just go away and leave me alone.”
She involuntarily sniffed.
“What?”
“I said leave me alone!” She croaked.
Then she heard a crack. She looked up to see a crack in the family photograph going across Charlotte. Morana looked at it with shock and then at her with nothing but rage. She looked up at it and then looked away.
Will I ever get that back? Will she ever stop looking at me like that?
“I will. But I swear to you, if you come near my family again-”
“Shut up! You have your family at home. I’m sure you don’t want them to worry. I’m nothing but that thing you gave birth to. That thing that you just wanna kill. Then just do it!”
She nodded.
“I will let you live. Just don’t you let this happen again.”
She nodded.
