The Nine Dragons The Life Dragon Part Ten

 Disbelief Of The Town

They all arrived at the town at the foot of the island that she was on a week. Yet Loc looked at the group. She made sure to keep her distance. After all, she could do nothing but think about Ryu. She did this to remind herself of what happened to him. She knew that she would have to keep to herself so that she would feel that pain again. She looked to the side.

“Why are we coming here? We should be getting to the head.”

“Not if you want to take down the second army. Also this town leads to a faster road, ironically. After all, if we went, what looks like, the shortest way there would be spending a month or two climbing a mountain then another couple on the mountain after that which is double the size. See?” Kin pointed out pointing to the top of the back and chest area of the island.

“Oh.”

She looked down at the town’s plaque.

Dragon Pryd

Right, time to get this over and done with. She thought as they walked into the town.

She looked at the map.

“When do they come?”

“Tomorrow. The first division in the morning, the second in the afternoon and the last in the evening.”

She nodded.

“I hear a lot from those that…passed the town at the arrow.”

She nodded.

“Right. We will all split up and tell the residents here the truth.”

“Alright, but don’t get your hopes up.” Ryo spoke.

She nodded as they all split and she came to the first door. The homes were like that of the town in the arrow, just all of them were detached and had been painted pink with light pale yellow roofs. They were bigger too.

An obese woman answered. She had been clothed from head to toe. Loc noticed that her shoes were polished within an inch of their lives.

“Yes dear?” She spoke with a sickeningly sugary voice.

“I’m Loc and I am here to tell you that Paradtopia is not as good and kind as she makes herself out to be.”

“Sorry dear, but I cannot believe you. She provides us with such sweet food.” She said, slamming the door in her face.

At this she frowned. Yet she moved onto the next door. She experienced the exact same thing and she moved onto the next one and the exact same thing happened. She narrowed her eyes for a moment as she did this again and again and again. Yet she knew that she needed to know why they, regardless and of what she did, refused to believe her. So when she knocked on the next door she knew that she would have to get to the bottom of this.

“Yes dear?”

“Why do-no. What did Paradtopia ask of you?” She asked.

The plump woman that stunk of too sweet coffee frowned.

“What makes you think that she asked anything of us, dear dotty eyes?”

“I just want to know why people are adamant on Paradtopia’s goodness?”

Yet this was met with a door closed in her face.

Great. Time to move onto the next one. Hopefully she will be more reasonable. She thought as she did and asked the exact same question that was met with another door slammed into her face. She did this again and again and again.

So that night they all regrouped.

“Did you get anyone to listen?”

“No. They all slammed the door in our faces.”

She nodded.

“Is there a library here?”

“Yeah.”

“Where?”

“Follow me.”

So they followed Sai to the library in the centre of the town. The library was a pink and purple circular building with pillars all around with a statue of Paradtopia above the entrance.

Yet Loc could never get over just how beautiful the place was. Yet she could not give herself the time to appreciate it. The first thing that she looked at was the spines of each of the books. She soon found the history section. Yet she quickly found the first volume on the land. Sje skimmed it and then found what she was looking for on page ten of chapter two.

So, after Phellioth failed to kill Paradtopia he,

in order to pay tribute to the dragon, ordered all

the first born to be given to her. Yet in return for

his life and she has given us comfort and peace.

She had been good to us so that we want for

nothing and need no reason to go out much. Under

the condition that we continue to give her all our

first borns.

“So that’s why.”

“I knew it!”

“No wonder.”

“We will act tomorrow.”

“Right.”
