The Nine Dragons The Life Dragon Part Seven
The Last Of The First Army
Loc barely had the time to come round when she woke up as the army was already at the border. She had to jump up, giving her heart a jolt which made her chest feel odd. Yet she had to ignore that and the cold, as she knew that she did not have any time for that. Not right now.
The first thing that she saw were the arrows coming at her. She rushed back as far as her tired legs could run. The next thing she did was run in zig zags as she had to make sure that her movements were unpredictable. No, just a straight line was utter foolishness. She then saw the blade in front of her before it sliced her forehead from the star to the rose. Yet as her body arched back the arrows dug into her arms, shoulder and right leg.
Yet this had an odd sensation. One that she could call only nostalgia. Yet she just could not work out, for the life of her, of what or for when. Yet she would have the sense not to dwell upon it.
As her body collapsed to the ground the arrow heads dug in deeper as the wood broke. She looked up at the fake angel’s smile and he pointed an arrow at her face.
Quickly, she grabbed the bow so the arrow missed before he fired. She felt the pain coming from the parting in her hair. Then she saw the arrows coming at them. She looked back at the creature with shock and confusion. She ran back as fast as her legs could take her. As she did she saw another set of arrows coming where she was so she ran back. That was when she saw the blade in front of her. She dodged to the left and her left arm was hit.
She went to swipe Peble upwards only to realize that, in her haste, she had forgotten to pick the blade up! She let out a cry out of her own stupidity. She went to run to it only for arrows to block her way. Then her back was struck. She spun and instinctively threw out a kick. Even though it hit, one chopped her calf to the bone. She let out another cry but forced herself to ignore the pain and race on and on.
She knew that she could not direct her eyes from it for one second or her determination would crumble like dust. So when she felt the next row of arrows her adrenaline was too high for the pain to be too much to handle. Yet the moment that she reached it, she picked it up. Now was the time to fight.
That was when she saw the arrows and she sent out a blast of fire. So they caught fire. At this she smirked as her eyes flicked to them. She outstretched her hand and the fire started to rise.
Suddenly they looked at it and then her with a frown. That was when she threw a blast at them. She used this to push the fire across the sky. This hit the front row of them. Yet their bows and arrows and quivered were all set alight. They all quickly threw them off yet the ones that were too slow felt the fire spread and more fell. Yet this did nothing to stop the flames coming and igniting their wings, causing them to fall. Some broke their neck when they landed.
This gave her another idea. So as the fire reached then next row of fake angels she flicked the flames to the wings one after the other in rapid succession. She could feel the sweat building as the sky became eclipsed with fire as more and more fell and their bodies were broken.
That was when she was pierced. She saw one of the survivors coming at her. She only just blocked. She saw another coming at her. She slid the blade down and curved it up and stabbed his throat. That was when she saw the light reflecting next to her and blocked the next one and kicked up and drove the blade into the throat. She saw another limp to her and she dived on and spun, slicing the head off. Then she saw another one limping towards her and did the same.
That was when bodies fell from the sky like rain. This caused the fire to spread throughout the cobbles, causing things to become very hot. Yet she pushed the fire up and back, away from all the buildings and took out more wings.
She saw another swing of a blade. She dodged and threw the tip of her blade up and dived back. Then she charged back on again. She jumped up and pounced upon his arm and this caused him to stagger back into the flames. Soon he was alight as she rolled out of the flames. Shevsaw more and more coming and she pulled the flames back and the flames hit them like a wave. She did this again and again and again.
Soon it started to rain which she welcomed as she stabbed the last one. She felt the cool soothing water refresh her as it put out her flames. Then as she smiled in this moment of bliss the people walked out and too enjoyed it as they opened their mouths and let the water in and drank it. Then just in that moment they knew what to do.
