Strena Acceptance Part Three

 A Truth That Scars

They soon came to a town. Strena and Bash looked at the local bounty hunters tavern.

“Do we have enough to get to the Desert Planes?” She asked.

“So the little princess can speak on her own!”

“Shut up!”

“Well, do we?” Strena asked, keeping on track.

“No. We probably need at least four emeralds and rubies.” Chashathrophogh admitted.

“Then I’ll get a bounty and we’ll split the royalties.”

“Good thinking Arielsa!”

“Strena.” Zaryb and Strena corrected.

“Right.”

“Also, Bash, go with her. That way she would pick a good job that she can do.”

“But don’t underestimate her.”

Bash nodded as the girls walked in. She looked at the board. Strena soon picked one and showed it to Bash and she looked down.

Herra Of Hogworth

100 Emeralds & 7 Rubies

Herra of Hogworth has taken over Herraldt three days ago.

Despite our best efforts we could not take him down. So

please, free us!

“That was the beginning of last month. So he must have been there for at least a week. Do you think that you can handle this one?”

“Yes.”

She raised her eyebrow as she nodded.

“Right, tell me, are you ready?”

“Should be. Tell me, Herraldt, it’s close isn’t it?”

“Yes. In fact, it is on the road that we are on.”

She smiled.

“Then let’s go.”

They walked out. She showed it to Zaryb and he nodded.

“Good pick.” He muttered.

“Tell me, urm…Mr Chashathrophogh?”

“Yes.”

“Why don’t you become a bounty hunter?”

“I have no interest in making any vows to any God or goddess.”

“Anr what about you Mr Cerpheres?_

“Same!” He sang with a shrug.

She narrowed her eyes.

“How come?”

“I don’t like having those kinds of nasty, nasty things!” He replied, waving his hands with closed eyes.

“Alright.”

“Now, where to?” Chashathrophogh asked.

“Herraldt.”

He smirked as he nodded.

“Then let’s go.”

They then walked on and on and on.

“Tell me, why aren’t you interested in making those vows?” Cerpheres asked, his breath on his ear earning him a punch.

“First, mind my personal space or I will kill you and two I find the gods and goddesses very…fishy.”

Cerpheres raised his eyebrow as he jumped back up on his feet. He looked on as they walked on and on. They soon came to the kingdom. It was by a large and wide river and had circular houses and thatched roofs. They were painted royal blue with Olympic blue wooden doors.

“So what do we do?” Cerpheres asked.

“Well we need to get into the castle.”

He leaned in close to her and looked like an excited child.

“And how are we going to do that?” He asked eagerly.

She walked up to the castle. She then walked up to one of the guards.

“Are you loyal to Herra?”

“Yeah.”

She showed them the slip.

“Wait.”

“I’m here to collect.”

“What? Are you an idiot?” Snapped Chashathrophogh.

The guards were already on them and, just as Chashathrophogh was about to grab his weapons, Strena gave him a glance. So he stopped.

They were soon brought in front of Herra. He was well built with an evil form of aggression in his lilac eyes and jet black hair with several white scars underneath her eyes.

“Who is this?”

“Sir.” Said one of the guards, giving him the poster.

He looked down and smiled. He bellowed out in a loud laugh. He looked down at the girl. He frowned for a moment. Then leaned in.

“Tell me, you’re not related to Emperor Nazin Zuvé, are you?”

“He’s my daddy.”

His eyes lit up.

“Really? You know he was once one of my trusted allies. He wiped out thirteen nations just because they didn’t let him have his way with their women!”

“No. What do you mean by that?”

He let out another laugh.

“He killed people who denied him. None ever did. Every time he took over a nation he would enslave all who were the previous royals. In fact, I was tempted to get the previous princes and princesses to become my slaves. Yet that was far too much a risk.”

She looked down, letting what she had heard sink in.

“My-my Dad would never-”

“He did. In fact, there were many things that your father did that I could only dream of. Like he once got the demon king of this region himself to aid him in his battles.”

At this Zaryb tensed his eyes almost as if he was in pain. Yet Chashathrophogh gave him a warning glance.

“And he tortured people in ways even I never had the stomach to!”

“No he did not!” She snapped as the flames started to flicker. “Sure, I admit, he did bad things but he couldn’t be that bad!”

Suddenly she wanted this man dead. She wanted him dead with all her heart. She wanted him to stop saying those things about her father. Soon his voice stopped working. He muttered words but nothing came out of them. His face became blue as he covered his chest and he fell over.

She dropped to her knees. She panted as tears fell from her eyes. She was shaking as her head bowed. Then she felt a hand on her shoulder. She looked aside to see Chashathrophogh. She felt shock strike her as she realized she had forgotten that he was there. She looked down as she saw the other hand. He reached over and pulled her in.

“Shhh. I understand why you could not say what was wrong. Yet I know that was a shock, but you should know this, that part is in the past. So it’s alright. So what if your father was the worst, it doesn’t mean that you are doomed to follow in his footsteps. Come on, you have a head to hand in.”

She nodded.

“You-you’re not going to kill me?”

“Not unless you begin to follow in my footsteps.”
