Scar A Lonely Escort Part Seven
The Road
Morana looked at the map and the sun was high in the sky, which told her that it was noon. So she spotted that the next place that they were best going to was the road that cut between the mountains that would need to go across. So they walked to it. It was the colour of sand and was very gravely. So she looked at her and noticed that her shoes would be able to withstand the road so they walked on.
They soon noticed a group of men coming at them. Shd noticed that they all had knives and knuckle spikes on their knuckles. They all wore black and had their faces obscured by a scarf and a hood. They all looked at the two. Then they started to walk towards them. One brought out a spiked ball on a chain and some had a pair of makeshift numb chucks. Yet she could see that they had their gaze locked up on them.
Scar looked at Morana. They both knew what they were and both knew better than to give in to them. Morana pulled out her gun.
“Well, well, well, who are these beauties?” Asked the one in the front.
“Sorry, don’t have time for-”
That was when Scar spotted a group drop down. She pulled Morana back as they landed where they were. They all looked at the girl.
“Shar’n, that one!”
“Yeah. Should we see how sharp she is?”
That was when Scar was hit from behind. She rolled as another grabbed her. She drew her feet in and thrust them into his face as hard as she could then went onto kicking her toes into his cheek and heel into his right. She did this again and again and again until one of them thrust his spiked ball onto her. She spotted this and quickly drew her legs away from it as far as she could. Yet this did not stop it from skimming her shin. Yet she was able to hit the chain into the one that held her.
He fell and she dived on to him and spotted a cross bow and pulled it out. Even though there were other weapons there, that was the one that seemed right to use. There was something about it that gave her a strange sense of nostalgia. Like she was remembering a life she could never have lived.
So, when she loaded it and pointed it at the nearest thug, there was something about the feel of it that seemed natural and right. She then fired, almost like an old instinct had instructed her how to use it. It hit the thigh as she saw another one was coming to the left. She fired at the thigh again and again she hit. She saw another one and repeated the action again and again and again.
That was when she saw the spiked ball coming at her. She dived to the left and fired, which hit indignantly in between the legs. He let out a scream as he fell. She then spotted another spike and dived to the right and fired in the exact same place. Then she saw another to the left and did the exact same thing before diving to the right.
She then saw more come at both ends. She jumped and the spikes hit each other. She loaded their heads, before she could do anything. She then saw one to the left and quickly dodged. She saw one to the right and dodged. She did this again and again and again as they got faster and faster. Soon she heard a bang and then they both fell over, dead. She looked up at Morana.
“Come. We don’t have time to play around with thugs.”
She nodded as she scrambled to her feet and walked on and on.
“So, who taught you how to use a crossbow?”
“No one.”
“How did you know how to use it?”
“I dunno…It was like I had done it before, I just can’t remember where…”
Why am I even telling her this? She’s only gonna use it to hurt me.
How? How can she?
I don’t know, but she will!
“Strange. Are you sure the witches didn’t?”
“Sure.” She spoke, her eyes glowing with rage. “They wouldn’t teach me how to fight my way out of a paper bag, let alone that back there.”
She nodded her eyes unmoved.
“Are you sure that they didn’t teach you any form of self defence?”
“Sure.”
“Why?”
“I would’ve ran away if they did.”
She nodded.
“By the way, do they know about the gun?”
“No, why?”
“Do you think that you can kill them?”
“I could.”
“Then do it.”
“Why?”
“Simple, I know that you would never, in a million years, use it to save me from them, but for yourself. After all, if they could make you do this, to me, then what else could they make you do?”
She narrowed her eyes as she frowned. Then nodded slowly. She looked down as they walked on and on and on. She pondered about this in silence.
“You’re a smart one. How did you get this smart?”
“You weren’t the only one that was hurt by them. Had to figure out what they wanted to do to me each day ”
She nodded.
“Then why do you react the way that you do to pain?”
“There were five years between them and when I moved here with mum, Bill and Bliss.
She nodded as she caught sight of the slight brightness in her eyes as she thought about this. Yet she quickly masked this. She knew better than to show such emotions in front of this woman.
“And were Bill and Bliss that boy and girl in that photo’?”
“Yes. In fact they had crimson eyes too. Which drew me to Beatrice and Britannia.” She spoke before she realised who she was talking to.
She nodded.
“Do you still want to be their friend?”
Scar looked to the side, keeping her eyes away from her. She did not trust herself to say anything either. So they walked on, as they did, Morana was hit. The next thing that she saw was the arrow in her arm. Her eyes widened as she looked up to see a sand bland man with leeky blue eyes.
“You are to come with me.”
“Why? Who are you?”
“A man that is going to be paid well to take the both of you in.”
“By who?”
“The ones that both of your pictures on the wall.”
She nodded.
“Both of us?”
“Yeah!”
“How much?”
“Well, you’re three rubies. She’s five emerald. Although, I admit, I am surprised. I didn’t expect that you girl would actually look like her.”
“Who?”
“I mean you have the crossbow and everything!”
“Who are you talking about?”
“Well, apart from the eyes. Nah! She had white eyes. Did you want to be a bounty hunter too?”
“No. I wanted to be a Night Hunter like-”
No. You have all the information that you need. End this.
“Nevermind.” She muttered as he quickly fired at the legs and then at the ankles and the waist. All hit Morana. She then looked at Morana. She was tempted to leave her behind and rescue them all by herself. Then she could escape her and then she would love her but she knew better than to. So she raised her crossbow and hit him. She then put the crossbow in the quiver. She looked for a belt and put it on her. She then picked up the woman and strapped her onto her back and grabbed her legs.
She then walked on and on and on as far as she could carry her. Soon they left the road behind.
