Scar A Lonely Escort Part Eight
The Controlling Spell
Scar had been walking for the rest of the morning and several hours past noon. By that point she had long since left the road behind. She had noticed that she was not as tired as she ought to be. However this was not what she thought about most on the journey.
Yet she took this time to appreciate what it meant that there was a bounty on her head. Not just her either, but Morana as well. They both did, yet she, try as she might, just could not think of why. Why, above all, would she have a bounty on her head despite not even being of this world? Nobody should know of her existence. Hardly anyone knew her. In fact, the ones that did, were either dead, had not seen her in two months at least or were trying to kill her. So why the bounty?
She thought long and hard about it but she just could not think of a single reason that people here knew that she existed. She thought about this for so long and hard that she became lost in her own thoughts that she did not notice the old man that was walking in front of her until she hit him! She looked down and saw him.
“Oh! I’m sorry. Are you alright?” She asked and she dived to pull him up.
He nodded. He had a snow white beard and hair that went all over the place. His eyes were bright royal purple and he wore blue robes with a green hooded cloak with bat wings. All lined with an embroidered gold poison ivy pattern.
He looked up at her and laughed lightheaded. Almost like how a silly old grandfather would. If Scar did not know any better, she would have sworn that this man was Saint Nicholas as he looked up at her with a smile.
“Sorry about my daughter, sir. She’s very problematic.” Spoke Morana as she was able to stand.
Scar loomed at her and frowned, yet shook her head.
“Sorry ‘mother’. I just had a lot on my plate recently!” She said sarcastically as she turned back to him.
She extended her hand.
“Here, let me help you. For some reason I’m stronger than an average girl my age.”
He smiled widely as he took it.
“Thank you.” He sang slowly.
Then he pulled her in with an unnatural strength and then grabbed the back of her head.
“Mythos Puros.”
Scar opened her mouth to speak.
“Pupa stio miki!”
Suddenly Scar felt a lump in her throat as a chill ran down her spine.
“Mo-”
“Shh!”
Her mouth shut.
W-why is he? How did he find me? Why, why?
“Come closer.”
To her utter horror her body did just that.
“Come on ‘Scar’ get up!”
“You heard her get up!”
She did. She looked at her. She knew that she had to tell her. She just had to find a way to tell her. Yet she did not know how but she did.
Maybe she knows Morse code? I hope that she does. I guess that I’m just gonna have to find out.
She took two long blinks. This followed by a quick plink, slow blink. Two slow blinks and a quick one. Two quick. One long one followed by a quick one, slow again and a quick one. She did this over and over again. Morana frowned.
“Why are you blinking like that silly girl?”
She closed her eyes like she was about to be hit. The old man’s eyes darted to her. He smirked wickedly at her, impressed.
“You clever girl!” He remarked.
“What do you mean by that?”
Scar looked at her again then at the old man. Sbd pointed at her with her eyes and blinked the word again. This time she looked at the man with a pale face.
“Who are you wizard?”
He let out a chuckle that sounded like a tortured cat. This made Scar jump out of her skin. She felt her ears hurt just by hearing it!
“I love this part!” He almost screamed as his white hair turned steel grey and his eyes turned blood red and his teeth turned as sharp as knives.
“I am the one who knows when you’ve been so, so naughty both old and young. I know all the dirty songs and words that you have soever foolishly sang. I know that you never told your dear husband about the child you couldn’t abort, the look on your face will be a fright when the truth is taught!”
“What!”
“Ahh, such a good little girl you have here, on filled with such lonely sorrow and fear! The witches will sacrifice you for power, to remain young by the hour, but don’t make haste, that would be a waste.”
“Leave me alone!”
He looked directly at her as his robes became the colour of blood and black fur grew from the rim, making him look like a deranged Santa. Then flies fled from his mouth like they were trapped in there and were just dying to get out as fast as they possibly could.
“Ah, you think that it’s what you are she hates, if only you know the plan of the fates! But you know better deep down, you, who for two lives had a crown. For you the truth is not so hard to seek, yet your emotions and desired will make you weak. But I know what is the right pull, your own mother I command you to kill!”
Suddenly her hand held the crossbow and she raised it to her.
“No!”
Then she closed her eyes as she fired. Yet, upon hearing no scream, she dared open them again to see that she was alive. At this she let out a sigh. Then her crossbow moved to the left. She fired and was shocked to see that she almost got her. She found her finger pulling the trigger again and again and again. Shd could already feel the tears streaming as she tried to stop herself from pulling the trigger and loading the next arrow. Yet, despite trying with all her will, she just could not.
“Stop it! Just stop it! Don’t do this! I’m begging you! I’ll do anything!”
“No my dear shorty, I like you naughty!”
At this she felt herself breaking as she fired again and again and again.
I’m going to kill! Help me! He’s gonna make me kill! I don’t want this! I DON’T WANT THIS!
Suddenly the ground shook and she fired at Morana and lost her balance. Then she pulled out her gun and hit her in the knee. Yet, even though the pain was excruciating and the whole ground was shaking, her legs remained locked in place! She could see nothing but a blur through her tears.
“Don’t turn me into a killer!”
“Oh, but it is such a thrill, being the one that no matter what will, always find a way to make you kill!”
“Help me! Don’t let him use me to turn me into a killer! Please! I don’t want this! I don’t want any of this! I don’t want to be the Mythos Puros! I don’t want to be anyone’s weapon! I don’t want to be a murderer! I DON’T WANT THIS! Why can’t I be normal? Why can’t I have been born to a mum and dad that love me! Why can’t I go to school? Why can't I go home?” She cried as cracks spread under her like a spider’s web. She was blinded by the tears. She could not breathe.
Then she heard a bang and she dropped. She could do nothing but sob. She had done it! She had killed her. She actually killed her! The woman who gave birth to her. She thought about Beatrice and Britannia. How could she possibly face them? How could she possibly tell them what happened? How could she say without spoiling their image of their mother? What would-
Her head hit something. She could smell that it was Morana. The next thing she felt was the punch in the gut. She looked up at Morana relieved. She could not help but press into her and just sob.
