Doormaze Drage The Purple Artefacts Part Four

 The Purple Book

They travelled down the cave in West Mountain for an entire day. Yet they did not leave until the following day. They left the cave to see a group of small houses. They were all small and in the style of King Garnet’s castle.

“This is the abandoned town of Faiton. It’s here somewhere. So I think we will have to go in them to find it. You need not worry, there has not been a single person seen here in decades.”

The other three nodded.

“And what does this next artefact look like?”

“It is a purple book. It is made from the same material as the crystal flower.”

“Right. Then, let’s split up and explore every house.” Doormaze spoke, punching her fist.

“And mark the door of the house that has been checked and leave the door open while it's being checked.”

“Good thinking.”

They all split and walked into the first house that was closest to them. They all started on the ground floor. Then the first floor and the second floor. Upon seeing nothing, they left the house. They put a cross on the door and moved onto the next one. They repeated looking on the ground floor and worked their way up. They put the cross on the door before moving on. They repeated this again and again and again and soon the first row of houses were done and they found nothing. They then moved on ahead and worked on the next row and the next row and the next one. Soon the sun came down and they needed their sleep.

“Ahh! It’s not here!” Coalmine shouted angrily.

“Yes it is! According to this map it is!”

“Look, we have been looking for a day and we have found nothing!”

“Coalmine!” Snapped Doormaze.

“What?”

“We have gone through how much?”

“One quarter of the town.” King Garnet said.

“One quarter of Faiton town and it has been one day. If, by the end of the town, we find nothing then you can say that the map is wrong.”

She let out a huff.

“Alright!”

“Look, you two, try and keep calm. Especially you Doormaze. But trust me, this will not be easy. The Purple Monster must have made sure that this was impossible for King Garnet to complete.”

“I am calm-”

Suddenly they all looked away.

“Your eyes.”

Her eyes widened. She looked down and hid them. She did not realise that they were black.

“What’s wrong with her eyes?”

“She has a power called the Basilisk’s Eye.”

“And?”

“It’s where I can look at you and kill you by looking at you in your eyes.”

He looked away with shock.

“What a horrific power!”

“Yesz which is why she needs to stay calm.”

“Alright, we’ll try again tomorrow.”

“Alright.”

“And make sure that all of you gets a good night’s sleep. That includes you too, Doormaze!”

“I’ll try, Burn!”

They all went to sleep. Doormaze saw Natalie in a room. She was alone and her whole body was curled up. She was twitching and coated in sweat. There were tears in her eyes and she coughed and coughed. Blood came out of her mouth. Yet she still coughed and cought more and more. She saw smoke coming from her mouth! She stopped as she breathed in and out. She then saw that both were all gone!

“I-I-it h-h-hurts.!” She cried with a shaky and hollow voice.

“What? You did not think that it was going to be that easy, did you!”

“N-no-.”

She coughed and coughed.

“Did you hurt you, did you?”

“N-no-! B-but I didn’t expect it to hurt this much.

The dragon smirked.

“You should have. YetI would like you to know that Doormaze has another sister.”

Her eyes widened.

“Sh-sh-sh-she does?”

“Yes. A twin to be precise. Do you want to know her name?”

“Y-yes!&

“Coalmine. She was in the middle of the same transformation when she left. In fact, I loved hearing her screaming as she went through it all. I even made the process more painful to hear more of those beautiful screams. Yet, despite all this, she still handled this better than you.”

Her eyes widened in shock and anger. There was murder in her eyes. Suddenly Doormaze felt completely terrified for Coalmine. So much so that she knew that if she did. It kill Natalie then she would kill Coalmine and she knew that she would do it.

“Abd where is she?”

“Well, she should be with her twin if I am right!”

Sbe nodded.

“C-can I?”

“No.”

“W-wht?”

Doormaze woke up. She looked over to Coalmine. She walked over to her and placed a hand on her head. Her face screwed up in a pair that she was reliving.

“Shhhh…shhhh…shhhh…”

She stroked her head with her thumb. She too, frowned at her twin. She hoped that this would ease her pain, even if it was for a moment. Her face relaxed as she did this over and over again. She soon loosened up.

I will not let you feel that pain again. I will do whatever it takes to protect you from them. Even if that means killing.

She then fell asleep beside her and she kept stroking her.

“Shhhh…shhhh…” She repeated in her sleep.

The following day they all woke up. Coalmine, for the first time, felt refreshed and well rested. She looked down to see Doormaze sleeping beside her.

“Shhhh…shhhh…” She repeated.

It did not take her long to figure out why she got her sleep. She frowned for a moment but then smiled.

“When was the last time someone did that for me?” She wondered out loud.

She drew herself inwards as she tried to think of a time that someone did, but she could not.

She looked aside as she placed a hand on her heart to wake her up.

“Did you watch over me?”

“Yeah!”

“Thank you. Even though you didn’t need to.”

She pulled herself up.

“I’m your sister! Of course I did! I am supposed to protect you. Even from bad dreams.”

She smiled and chuckled.

“What?”

“Nothing. Now let’s find that book!”

She smiled.

“Yeah! Come on! Last one there’s a rotten egg!” she sang as she ran.

“How dare you!” She shouted as she ran to the nearest house.

Coalmine soon found the book and showed Doormaze.

“Looks like you’re the rotten egg, dear sister!”

“Oh!”
