Doormaze Drage The Purple Artefacts Part Five

 The Purple Feather

They joined over a large tarain of grass. They all noticed that the sky had become dark purple, but not dark enough to become black. The clouds were dark crimson. The grass was purple and they saw a castle ahead. It was tall and had long slender towers with dark grey bricks with nothing but darkness coming from the windows. In the centre were a set of double crimson doors with jet black hinges.

“What a creepy looking place.” Burn said as she took a step back.

“Don’t be afraid.”

“Is the Purple Monster in there?”

“Yes, and the Purple Feather. It is a shame too, it was once the old castle of my ancestors and now it looks like a place of evil.”

They nodded as they approached the doors, trying not to give into their fear. They soon noticed that they had no doorknobs or keyhole.

“How are we going to get in?”

“Burn it down?”

She nodded and she breathed on the door. Yet nothing happened. She tried it again but there was not even a speck of soot on the doors!

“Alright, maybe we should fly in?”

Coalmine took Doormaze and flew to the windows. Only to see that they were all too small. They flew up higher and higher. Until they flew above the castle, only to see that there were no doors at the top of the castle leading to the rooftop. They flew back down.

“Burn, could you use your magic to blast a hole in the wall.” Doormaze asked.

She nodded and then focused her magic to the wall. She focused all the magic that she had to pull the bricks out, but nothing happened! She tried to do the same and tried to push the bricks in and, again, nothing happened. Then she shook her head.

“So how do we get it now?”

“The door? There must be a trick to it.”

They looked at the planks of wood. All of them noticed that the ones in the centre had gaps in them. Coalmine placed her hand upon one and pushed. This did nothing. She then pulled it down and the plank dropped. Then she pulled and pulled. Then she heard a click and the plank stopped. She then moved on and pulled the next one down. Yet this did nothing. She then pushed it up and the plank moved up and up and up. Then stopped halfway up. She moved onto the next one and pulled it down, nothing happened. She pushed it up and nothing happened. She then pushed it in and then the rest of the door followed. Then they all raced inside.

The moment they were in, the door flicked black and the rest of the door flicked back to normal.

They all took a moment to take a breath.

“Good work you three. I did not expect that there was a puzzle behind the door! So that must be what Father’s song was all about!”

“Shut it!”

“Why?”

“Because, if the Purple Monster is here then we do not need to alert him to our whereabouts!”

“Oh, good point!&

“No wonder you were not able to succeed. Now, where to next?”

“I do not know. The map does not say.”

“Right.”

They turned on to see the high hallway lit by torches with purple flames. With a light purple stream of water at both sides of it.

“So, at the end?”

“Seems like it.”

They walked on and on. They came to a set of stairs. One leading down and the other leading up.

“Now what?” Coalmine snapped.

“King Garnet? What did that song say?”

He looked on and frowned.

“I do not know. This was not here before.”

“Hold on, I know what it says!” Exclaimed Coalmine.

“Shhhh!”

“Oh, right. Sorry.”

“What does it say?”

“Remember the direction of one. Follow that lead.”

“So it’s a riddle.”

“Yes. But what does it mean?”

“I don’t know.”

“Well, King Garnet, what do you think?”

“Well, it means that…urm..”

“Maybe it had something to do with the doors?”

Coalmine widened her eyes.

“So that means that we must go down?”

“Seems so.”

They all nodded down the stairs and came to a room where the Purple Feather was. They then collected it.

“Now what?”

“Open the book.”

They all looked up with a frown.
