Doormaze Drage The Orange World Part Six

 The Journey Across 

 The Fire 


They walked on and on. Almost aimlessly now. Yet they knew that they had to find an aim, but none of them could find what it was they were looking for. Their stomachs were feeling like needles were in them and their tongues were feeling like rocks and their throats were sore. Yet they almost gave up hope then they saw a small clear puddle nearby them. They crouched down and looked at it. Soon they lowered their heads and sucked it all up. This wetted their mouths but all knew that it would not be enough to give them all the strength for anything that they knew that they needed to do.

So they walked on and on and came to a cave in the side of a volcano.

“I would give anything for a bite to eat!” Groaned Doormaze.

“Me too.”

“Stop complaining! I’m used to it!”

“Should we go in there?”

“Maybe there’s food in there!”

“Yeah! Like a good stake!”

“Or a bug at least!”

So they walked up to the volcano. They walked up the dark cave. For a while they felt relief at the temporary break of the heat. Yet as they walked on and on, they could feel the heat returning with a vengeance. As they walked on and on they could feel the heat increasing. Yet upon the hope that all will be worth it they continued. All they needed to do was get to the top of the cave as it became steeper and steeper.

“When will this end?”

“I don’t know, I just hope that we get there!”

“You’re a good leader, Doormaze! Really good!”

“Well why don’t you lead the next one!”

“Final! I will!”

Yet soon they saw the orange light at the end above them. So they all looked at each other then ran on and on, full speed ahead. They saw the light becoming bigger and bigger and soon the heat hit them all. Yet they wanted to get out of the cave so they ran and ran. Yet none of them had the stamina to continue. So they stopped and the panting caused their mouths and they felt like rocks again.

So they had to walk the rest of the way and soon they came to a single file stone bridge going over a lake of lava.

“Hold on. Are we in the middle of the volcano?”

“Yeah. Seems so!”

“Oh no! Why are we in the middle of it and why’s this bridge here? How did it get here?”

“I don’t know.”

“Now what?”

“Get across the bridge. I hope that there’s something there.”

“Yeah!”

So they started to walk over the bridge. They could feel the heat beating down upon them. They noticed that it was not as bad as the fire. Yet they noticed that none of them had felt heatstroke all day, just the thirst and hunger. Yet they noticed that they had to push on and on and get this over and done with before they died of hunger or dehydration. So they walked on and on and on. They could feel the heat increasing. Yet they all knew that they could not dilly dally. But as they ignored the heat they saw the lava blast up. They dropped down and started crawling on the bridge.

They could feel the heat on their knees as they crawled on and on and on the hard rock beneath them. Yet they could feel their knees hurting more and more but they did not want to get on their feet. They did not dare to. So they all pushed past the pain. Then a lava blast shot up nearby them. So they started to commando crawl.

Doormaze looked on and on and then down. It seemed that they were only halfway there!

Good. I need to keep this up.

So she did. She forced herself to keep her mouth shut to retain as much moisture in her mouth as she could. Soon she spotted that they were getting closer and closer to the other end of the bridge. So she pushed on and on. She could feel that her body was aching and she was shaky but she forced herself on and on and on. She did not let herself stop once. Sbe took a glance back at the other two to see that they were not as bad as she was.

Seems like they’re used to this. Too bad that I’m not.

Yet she still forced herself on and on. 

Soon they reached the end. Yet they had to get down so they just decided to slide down the cave on the other end. They were soon out of the volcano.

“Glad we’re out of there!”

“Yeah!”

 Water It was a whole week when they arrived at Dalane Lake. They had, by that point, been out of their supplies for a day before they arrived. They were all exhausted and were at their wits ends. So the moment that they saw the sparkling water they ran to it, their minds blinded by their hunger and thirst. The moment that they reached the water they saw the lush crop of fish they smiled. The next thing that they noticed was just how clear it was and yet the whole plain was untouched by any scorch marks. “Hey!” Doormaze called pointing at it all. “I know.” “It was the same with the spot that we were staying at.  The Fall Of Fire Loc, after a good and long rest, arrived at the chamber where the dragon dwelled. It was made of lava in the shape of a dragon with fire in his eyes. Which reminded her of the eyes of the previous world that she was in. Which seemed like years ago, even though it could not have been more than seven or eight months.  It opened it’s large mouth and threw flames towards her like a wave.   Hunter’s Defence  Scar opened her eyes. She then walked down the stairs. She slowly took out her homework, just to take her mind off the day before she started doing it. She started with her maths to fode her mind to focus. She then moved onto literacy. After she had done both her mind felt sharp and clear of all of the upset. She looked up, it was half past seven.
