The Nine Dragons The Dragon Infirno Part Seven
Heat Stroke
Loc had been on the road for a day and a half. She had made sure to keep her hunger at bay as much as possible, yet she did not overeat. No. She made sure to ration her food as much as she could. She knew that she had little time to dawdle. She kept up a good and steady pace which maximised her energy.
That was until she saw a large creature made of living fire. It was in the shape of a wolf with eyes of sapphire and a body of scarlet. It looked at her and sf heard the sound of a roaring fire that mimicked the sound of a growel.
It then charged at her causing the ground beneath the paws to catch on fire. She reached out her hand and stopped it in its place. Then fire flared out of its mouth and came at her. She rolled out of the way. Then flung out a blast of fire and it hit. Smoke rose from the top of the front leg. She hit it again and again and again and more and more smoke rose. She hit it again and again and again and again. Soon it was covered in smoke. Yet she did not relent. Soon the fire built and built until the fire shot out and exploded, leaving nothing behind.
She then walked on and on and on. Soon she saw another as she had built up a sweat. Yet her determination kept her going on. This one was in the shape of snake. She heard it hiss that sounded like a roar of the fire too.
Right. How am I going to do this? She thought before it dived at her.
She quickly dived out of the way.
No time to think!
She then saw it strike at her again and again and she dived out of the way. It struck again. She dived out of the way again. It struck. She dodged. She flung her hand out as it went to strike her again. Then it stopped.
Good. I can do this. She thought as she then threw fireball after fireball at it. She did not dare stop. She threw one after the other. Even when the heat increased and it was covered in smoke. That was when she was hit in the back. She spun and threw a blast of fire at the flames. She dived on and once she was on the other side, she flung a large fireball at it causing it to explode.
That went well. She thought as she walked on.
Yet as she walked and walked she started to get thirsty and so she took a sip of water yet as she walked on and on she did this again and again until she ran out of water. Yet soon after that her mouth became completely dry as a desert. As she took step after step her sweat started to dry up. As she still walked on and on the heat became worse and worse. Soon her head started to become dizzy. Yet she continued on and on. Soon she was seeing double. Yet as she walked on and on she felt very hot and started burning. Then she passed out.
When she woke the following day she felt cold inside even though her flesh was burning and covered in sweat. She could feel herself shaking slightly. She felt both hungry and yet, at the same time, nauseous. Part of her wanted to lie there yet she knew that she had to get up. So she forced herself on to her feet. She then took out a sandwich and forced herself to eat it. She knew that she might throw it up later but she preferred to have something to throw up.
She remembered that, as a child still living in Miémory, when she was ill, she vomited until she had nothing to vomit up. She still felt her body trying to throw up. Then her body squeezed until dung and urine was in her knickers and her favourite nightgown. It was white nightgown with purple roses sewn onto the cuffs of the sleeves and at the bottom. It almost stained them and she remembered after that, sitting at her mother’s feet apologising as she spent day after day getting all of that out.
She walked on and on, trying not to think much about it. Soon she saw another fire monster. It was in the shape of a leopard. It looked at her and roared at her. Then it raced towards her. She pushed her mind to focus as she flung out a fireball at the face. This stopped it as it shook its head in confusion. She then ran on and on. Her lungs cried out for air. Yet she hit it again and again and again.
Then as she came closer and closer she felt something hit her. She flew in the air and she looked to her left to see the jaws. She then summoned a ball of fire and threw it into the mouth as she reached it. Fire flared up and the next thing she rolled in the air in a rapid pace. Ths she collided with the ground and rolled and rolled and rolled. She saw it getting closer and closer. She threw out her arm and she was back on her feet.
She saw it was galloping towards her. She ran on and on and threw out a fireball at it. She then threw out a stream of fire out and at the fire head of the leopard. This soon caused it to explode.
She then walked on, feeling tired and weaker. Yet she forced herself on and on and on. She could feel her flesh was burning and worse, even though it could not physically burn, she could feel herself boiling. She knew that she could not put up with it for very long.
That was when she saw another fire monster. Part of her felt her heart sink. Yet she had to go on and on. She noticed that it was in the shape of a vulture. It let out a cry as it raced to her. She dived out of the way before it could reach her. She hit the ground. She then banged her head. She then threw out a ball of fire at it. It missed. She did it again. It missed again. She did it again and again and again in a row. The last one hit. She noticed that she was seeing double again and her vision was starting to blur.
Yet she forced herself shoot at the vulture again and again and again. Then she saw it coming at her. She shot a stream of fire at it. She kept the pressure on as much as possible. Then smoke finally rose up as she started to feel a strain inside her body. Yet she forced herself on and on. She felt the strain increased more and more. She felt her eyelids dropping as she stopped. It then dived at her. She fell as she dived out of the way and hit her head again. This helped wake her up a bit. Yet she knew that only be just enough.
She fired at it again and again and again. Then it shot at her and she sloppily rolled out of the way. Then hit her head again. Then shot a long and powerful blast. She kept it up and on it until she could no longer hold on. She fell down to see that it was gone.
Good!
She took a small nap before she got to her feet and went on her way. She knew that she had to get in yet she still felt weak. So she did all that she could go get in and ate more of the food in the box. She took out the next water skin bottle and drank as much as she could. But it took all for her to pull her mouth from it as her body wanted more.
Then she was hit by something to the side. She hit a cliff and soon landed. She looked to the side to see an owl on fire. Then it dived at her and she was soon in it's fiery talons. Sue shot fireball after fireball at it as they flew in the air. She then shot a stream of fire at it. She did this until she could not hold it up any longer. She stopped for a moment before she fired another one. Yet she threw more fireballs and as she threw fireball after fireball at it, she noticed they were getting smaller and smaller. She could see that they were getting colder too. She sent another stream of fire. Then she exploded and she dropped and hit a rock and all went black.
