The Nine Dragons The Dragon Infirno Part Four
The Town Next To
Fire And Water
Loc had been on the road for a day. She had been glad to have eaten all that food before she left, as if she did not, then she would have been feeling painful hunger. She kept herself walking and walking and pushed past her aching legs. She had not even taken one break. She did not want to. No, she could not afford to. She knew that,as each moment went by, the next army could come and if she was sleeping on the job then she would have another repeat of the rock giants. Which she anything but wanted.
Then she came to a town in between a river of lava and a river of water. She noticed that the land here on the river’s side was lush and filled with life. She could see rows and rows of crops. She could see that the buildings were the same as the village.
Right. This looks like a good place to rest. She thought as she looked at the side to see the sign post.
Fai Town
She raised her eyebrow.
Fai Town? Interesting name.
She walked on as she entered the town. She then found the nearest bench and sat down. Her feet were throbbing and she knew that there would be blisters all over her hardening feet. She then started to feel the hunger pangs now she had the time to focus upon it.
She then looked up to a man with chalk pink hair and green eyes. Then she looked to the side to see a woman with lime green hair and pale baby blue eyes.
“Who are you?”
“Chi and this is my wife Cho. Tell me, how did you get those dots in your eyes?”
“Not from this world.”
His eyes widened.
“Are you not the one that took down four dragons and their armies over the past for to five months?”
“Yes. I am.”
“Are you mad?”
“Yes. What is going on in your mind girl?”
“Freeing this world. You?”
“The power of Pendragon and his eldest son Dracula.”
Her eyes widened.
“Wait! His name’s Dracula?”
“Yes.”
“That’s such a cool name!”
“You think?”
“Didn’t think of that.”
“Anyway,-”
That was when her hunger pangs became worse causing her stomach to rumble loudly. They looked down.
“When was the last time you ate?”
“I think it was twenty four hours ago.”
“And is that why you have bags under your eyes?”
“Yes.”
“Alright. You’re coming with us.”
“She will?!”
“Yes. We have plenty at home.”
“Alright. Yes. We have plenty at home.”
“Thank you. By the way, when does the next army attack?”
“Three to four days from now.”
“And you’re not going to fight them!”
“You’ll be kicked out if you do.”
“That’s alright. I will be gone once they’re all gone!”
“Mad woman.”
“Try to think, girl. Your life’s not worth it!”
“I’m immortal. So I don’t need to worry about my life, only yours.”
“Weirdo.”
“Alright then come with us. All this talk is not good outdoors.”
She nodded.
“True.”
So she followed them to their home. There was one room with a loo in a small hut next to the front door. Both had a metal door. They opened the door revealing the kitchen area at the back door and a bed to the left. That had rocks for pillows. She saw a table with several chairs around it. In the centre was a handmade rug.
“Right.” Sighed Chi closing the door.
“I’ll pop the kettle on. Tell me, do you have green dragon tea where you’re from?”
“I don’t know. But we do have mandrake tea and tea brewed by dragons where I’m from.”
“Right.”
“Hold on, are the dragons from your world friendly?”
“Yeah. Some of them. But not all of them.”
“Right.”
“Better some than none!”
Loc laughed.
“True. Tell me, are there friendly dragons here?”
“No. They’re all evil. They were all made by the gods of another world who used their magic to create them so that they could conquer the world, which he did.”
“And what happened to them?”
“One was killed while fighting Philosteria Tenpool while defending the Iriel Isles. After they went to wipe them out. Yet the others had to return to their world.”
She nodded.
“Yet the first thing the dragons did was go after the royal households and that led to a power vacuum. Where Pendragon and the other dragons filled and took down as many of the kings and queens as they could?”
“Yeah.”
“That’s exactly what happened.”
She nodded.
“And does the army have any weaknesses?”
“Other than water? No.”
She nodded.
So use the water…
“That gives me an idea.”
“Oh no.”
“No. It’s a good one!”
“Fine!”
“Use the river”
“Eh?”
“Well, the dea is to, for the next group of days dig a-” She pulled out the shell. “Pit from the water to go all around the Town.”
“But they’re all giants!”
“Then dig a large and deep pit.”
Chi and Cho looked at each other as they frowned.
“But what about the fire river?”
She frowned as Cho put down a sandwich in front of them.
“Thank you.” She said, taking a bite revealing that it was a chicken sandwich.
“Well I will be cooling it down and-”
“‘Cool it down’? How?”
“How about, after this I show you? Now once I cool it down, I will dig underneath the river so that it will go underground rather than above.”
“And can you do this in less than three days?”
“With help.”
The both of them looked at her as if she was mad.
“Alright. There’s no harm trying.”
“Nor unless it leads to our deaths.”
“Cho, our children were killed by them and we were both left barren by them. Our lives are the only thing we have left!”
She nodded as she covered her stomach.
“So I will rally the others and if this works then you will get kicked out but we will pack you a meal to be on your way.”
“Agreed.”
So, after eating the sandwich, she walked to the lava river and willed the lava to cool down further and further. She wanted to cool it down as much as possible. Yet once she had cooled it down until it became rock. She took out Rock and Stone and hit the hot stone again and again and again and again until it broke. Chi pulled out a spade and picked it all up. Then she continued.
They did this again and again and again and again. Then she saw more of the townsfolk decided to join in. They dug with their axes and hammers. Some more men took a spade and pulled it all away. Then more and more and more joined. Some did the digging, others pulled away the rubble. Soon there was a deep pit.
Then she directed the group to a point, there they all did this until they had a deep and wide tunnel. Then once they all became hungry. So they all took a food break. Yet she continued until she knew that she could do no more and then she took a break. They did this again and again and again and again.
Then they all went to sleep and the following day, she and a division of men dug a long and wide ditch. The other continued the tunnel. This would connect the lava river together. Then they joined the group digging the pit.
Loc then went down to the tunnel and went to the right side and hit the rock. Soon a stream of lava came down. So she ran and ran and ran to the other end. Then she hit the rock and saw another lava stream coming. Then she ran and climbed to the side of the wall and came to the exit and saw that the lava was coming up rapidly. She soon climbed and climbed as fast as she could to the top.
Soon there was a lava pond where the river was. She then cooled it down further and further and further until the pond was covered in a thick layer of rock.
She then joined the rest in digging the deep pit and joined them. She dug and dug and dug. Then they all took a food break when they could no longer continue. Then they returned to the pit. They did this again and again and again and again until the sun came down. They continued until they could no longer do so. They went to sleep. When they woke up they made the pit deeper and deeper and wider and wider the size of a large street. But, by the end of the day it was the size of a football field and as deep as five floors.
The final day they were spending joining the water river to the pit. When they all went to sleep the water flower into the pit filling it right to the top.
I hope that pool is deep enough.
