The Nine Dragons The Dragon King Part Twenty-Eight
The Battle In The Sky
The first thing that Loc did was send a blast of fire at the gap between the talons and knuckle. She then spread it out and kept it up until the one talon in her side fell. She immediately slid out of the other talon and fell. She reached out her hand and pulled herself on top of the talon. She then looked up at where the head was. Only to see it staring at her. She had milliseconds to stop the fire. Then he coughed and coughed and coughed before the fire came out.
At this, she let out a breath of relief as she climbed on and on and on daring not to look down. She knew that the moment that she did, the battle would be over. So she charged on and on and on and dived onto the knuckles then on to the upper wrist. She could feel her body was as cold as ice and she felt like there were invisible claws scratching at her chest. Yet she pushed herself on and on and on.
Then she saw the wounds of the battlefield so she drove the fire into them all. Then Pendragon shook his hand again and again, yet she hugged the scales of the ankle as hard as she could. Then the shaking became faster and faster and faster. Soon it took all that she had to grip harder and harder, until her fingers bled. Then she felt the hand move up and down again and again and again. Yet she knew that she had to get to the head. She also knew that he would not let up for one moment.
She looked on for a moment then she owed her eyes as she could feel her whole body shaking as one hand let go. Causing her to let out a scream. She bit her lip as her whole body whacked out. She let out another scream as she looked down. They were so high up now. They were so high above the clouds. In fact the sea of clouds below were far below her! Which caused her to wonder how far the land and ocean were below them?
That alone made her shake even more. She closed her eyes to steal herself as she drove her mind up. She quickly pulled out Peble and stabbed up then pulled herself up. Yet then her body flicked up and down. She screamed and screamed and screamed.
Yet then she felt the arm raising. She gripped one scale and pulled the blade out and stabbed up and pulled herself up. She felt coming down. Her body left the arm with the only anchor being Peble. Then the arm started moving back up. She hit the upper ankle. She whipped her arm up and pulled her blade out and stabbed above her. She dragged herself up and did it again and again.
Only for the arm to move back down again. Her body flew up and she waited until the arm was going back up again and she returned to moving up as fast as she could and was able to continue her actions again and again and again until the arm moved back back down again. Yet she had to continue this dance again and again and again, however she knew that she would have to figure out how to do it when the arm was going down. Yet she knew that she did not have the time to do this as the evening turned to night. She had to pull herself up higher and higher and higher and push herself on and on and on.
Yet it was hours until she reached the elbow. She could feel her arms were getting shaky.
That was when she saw the tallon from behind. She pushed herself in as they came down and narrowly missed her. Yet she pushed herself on and on. Then she saw another wave of talons coming at her. She pulled out Peble and dived horizontally. Then she stabbed elbows. Then she was able to narrowly missed that wave. Then she heard the dragon laughing.
“That tickled!” His voice boomed.
The next moment she saw another wave of talons. She dived diagonally from left to right. She did this again and again and again for hours and hours and by the time she reached the pits, it was midnight. Yet, despite her tiredness, she pushed herself on and on and on and by the moon position it was three in the morning when she came to the back.
She then raced to the horns that made up the spine. Wanting to take a break, she raced to them and slipped between the horns. Where she thought that she could take a break and take a quick nap but she should have known better.
“Enjoying yourself, little spider?” Pendragon laughed.
She would have replied but she was too exhausted.
“Why do you do it?” She could barely whisper.
“Because you are my prey and I am your predator!”
“And you won’t change your mind?”
“No. I love the taste of humans. They are the forbidden flesh, after all!”
“Why?”
She could feel that he was smiling.
“Because humans are special. I can play intelligently with them. I can hear the scream. I can laugh at their attempts in trying to kill me. And savouring the look of horror when they realize they never stood a chance.”
She heard him lick his lips.
“It is adorable and their sweet sweat of fear is my favourite type of seasoning.”
She nodded.
“Now, little spider, how long can you stay on my back?”
That was when she was pulled back as her ears popped. This caused her to being pulled back and up the horn. She pushed her body forward and stabbed into the spine. At this he let out an annoyed grunt. He whipped the air with his wings. Soon her privets and tailbone were painfully slammed into the horn. This short pain up between her legs and lower and central spine!
Suddenly she was glad that she was a woman or that would have dramatically affected her chance of having children and victory in the battle.
Yet she had to look on to see the rock coming at her. She pressed her body against the scales and gripped the hilt of her blade as he slammed her body into it. Then he flew up and she had to push past the pain as flesh from her back was ripped off and shredded away. She bit her lip as she started to feel tears falling. Yet it took all she could to keep her grip and hold on for dear life! She let out a sound between a scream and a whimper.
Then, finally they passed the mountain. Then he started to climb again. Yet she felt her whole body being dragged back further as he sped up in the sky. Then she felt colder and colder until she could see her breath. Soon she was being coated in ice. She could not breathe as she looked up ahead.
She saw the sun in the form of a star. She spotted that it was like a globe of fire. She then saw all the rest of the stars and the colourful dust cloud move like a chalk picture on a black background. She tried to breathe but she could not. Yet she still sat there in awe of the cosmic beauty.
Then he dropped and dropped fast. Then she could breathe again but she still felt colder and colder as she saw the Skylands beneath her in the dawn daylight.
She pulled the blade out as she jumped to the side and landed upon the wings. Then they moved up and as she passed the island of the portal pool. Yet he flew on faster and faster to a point that they all zoomed past them. Then she soon spotted the spiral island that she landed on. The first island that she arrived at in this world.
Yet she knew that she did not have the time to appreciate this as she pulled her blade down as far as she could. But this did not come out the other end beneath the wing. She then put her hand into the wound and stabbed back in and pulled down with each flap. She did this again and again and again. This earnt her more and more laughter as she reached the other end, making a hole in the wing. Which was tiny compared to the rest of the wing.
Yet she pulled it down as the dragon tried to breathe fire on her again but the dragon wheezed and coughed and coughed came. So she kept stabbing and dragging the sword back again and again and again and again but the wound was still not enough. Then Pendragon, with one flap, sent her flinging to the other wing.
She stabbed down as hard as she could. This caused another wound in the wing as she sliced through that wing. She did this again and again and again as the wing came down. She dragged the blade down until the wing started to come back up. Then she sliced forward again and again and then moved on and repeated this again and again and again. She soon made a good hole in it. Then the hole opened up far more.
She soon found her arms and body were shaking and her starved arms were weakening. Then Peble slipped from her hand and fell through the hole. She went to grab it but it disappeared beneath the clouds very far below.
At this her stomach dropped. Fear and shock sank into her like fangs of a snake.
“No!” She cried as she shook her head.
Her jaw dropped as she looked onto the head. She felt the wing going up. Quickly she ran on and on and on as fast as she could. When it was about to come down she slammed down to the wing and bit into the wing and gripped with all she had and waited until the wing was driven down again. Then scrambled and charged on and on as fast as she could. They repeated this dance again and again and then she returned to the back after an hour.
Then she ran on and on and on hour after hour until the hot sun beat down upon her. She climbed down for a moment then she ran on and on and on and higher and higher up the back. Yet, as she did, her body wanted to take a break but she dared not to. No, she had to run and run on and on. By the time she reached the neck the sun had started sinking again. By the time she reached the head it was night again.
She was hungry and her body was burning with a tiredness that she could not afford to address.
