Doormaze Drage A World Of Truth Part One

 Truth

Doormaze Drage was the first to wake. She was glad that she was in a place where she could see the sun. The next thing that she was glad to feel was the cold air and then she heard the sound of people nearby. She could even tell that there were many.

She slowly sat up, knowing that getting up too soon would not be a good idea. She looked around to see that she and her friends were in the middle of a cobbled road, where there were people going to and fro. Quickly she pulled Burn and Coalmine out of the way and at the corner of a house on the other side of the road.

“Aw!” Groaned Burn as she woke, nursing her hurt behind.

“Are you alright?”

“No! My stomach and butt hurts and I’ve got a pain in my chest that won’t go away!” She rambled.

This some her up completely as she felt a ripple run throughout her body as she gasped and covered her mouth.

“I didn’t mean to say that!”

At this they frowned.

“Are you alright Doormaze?”

“No.”

“Why not?”

“I want to go home. Yet I can’t because I was forced to go on this quest by a bunch of dragons and if I don’t do it my father, who I have only just met, my sister, who only just told me she was my sister, and Kai, who only just revealed to me that he loves me, will die. On top of that, Natalie, the popular girl in my home, is turning into a dragon and trying to force herself on him. So no, I’m not alright!”

At this, she too gasped. She looked down for a moment as she could not believe that she had just said that. She did not even know just where all of this came from as she frowned deeply.

Why did I say that? Why didn’t I just say ‘yeah’ as per usual?

I don’t know.

“Wow! I didn’t know all of this is getting to you!”

“It is!”

What! How come I said that?

She let out a deep breath.

“It is getting to me!”

“Why did you just say that twice?”

“I wasn’t trying to say that.”

“How come?”

“What were you trying to say?”

“I was trying to say something else.”

“What exactly were you trying to say?”

“I’m fine and it isn’t getting to me.”

“Then why didn’t you?”

“I don’t know.”

Hold on, I was able to say that that time! Why was I able to say it that time?

She tugged at the earlobe with her birthmarks.

“Ask me questions.” She said.

“Why?”

“I want to know why I was able to say ‘I’m fine’ but not first.”

“Why couldn’t you say that earlier?”

“That is what I’m trying to figure out.”

“Right. Well, are you fine?”

“No.”

What-

Worth a try.

“Burn, I want you to lie.”

“Urm. Okay. My real name is Wick McKenzie. I was called Burn Rosebush by the homeless guy that found me.”

Doormaze nodded.

“Why are you there in the first place?”

“I was abandoned by my mum and dad because I have magic.”

“Why?”

“They hunt down people with magic and other supernatural things. They’re what you call Night Hunters.”

She nodded.

“So that pain is loneliness.”

“Probably.”

“Coalmine, you try to lie.”

She nodded and swallowed before taking a deep breath.

“They let me go.”

They blinked.

“What?” They asked.

“The dragons let me go.”

Doormaze frowned.

“What for?”

“To spy on you and help you complete this quest.”

“What!” Doormaze snapped like she had been slapped in the face. It took all that Doormaze had within her to keep her anger surprised. “What did you just say?”

“They sent me.”

Her eyes widened as Coalmine went completely pale, realizing what she had just said.
