The Nine Dragons The Dragon King Part Eighteen

 The Final Third Division 

They all had been marching for two hours, only taking a break for a quick lunch. Kai made sure to walk by Loc.

“How are you not harmed?” He demanded. “I saw you fall and get hit several times and there is not a scratch on you.”

“I’m immortal.”

“Oh?”

She let out a sigh.

“This was not my choice. I was forced to become this way.”

He looked to the side with a curled lip.

“How?”

“I was captured when I was no older than seventeen by a cult called the Sunburners. Mainly as a tool to be used against my sisters. Yet they had to make me immortal in order to make sure I survived giving birth to a star.”

“A what!?”

“Actually I vomited it up.”

“Oh.”

His eyes narrowed.

“Are all of the stars of your world made that way?”

“No.”

He nodded as his lip curled more.

“And is that your secret?”

“No…I don’t think so…”

She looked down as they walked on and on in silence for a moment.

“And what is it like?”

She winced.

“Painful. Yet when I start to itch…”

His eyes widened as they arrived at the third division’s camp. She looked down.

“What do we do?”

She looked down and around. She could see that all of them were awake.

“We draw them to the air. There we will fire at the wings. Yet have a group on destroying the wings on the ground.”

“Why the wings?”

“It will keep them land bound and as long as they’re land bound, it will be easier to take them down. Hopefully some will be killed by the impact of hitting the ground.”

The group nodded.

“Right.”

So they all split.

“Remember, get the wings!”

“Right!”

She took a glance back for a moment, just in case the giant wyverns had heard her. Seeing that they did not, she ran on. They all encircled the camp and the eagles took to the air. All fired at the wings. They all looked up and roared. Some wings were hit but others were able to fly out of the way. Yet as soon as they did they were hit by an army of arrows. Still some were able to get up higher. This caused the eagles to rise higher and hit the wings. They were all able to get them to crash into the ground.

That was when the men charged at them. The giant wyverns sent a blast of fire at them. Yet Loc stopped as much of the fire as she could, but she could not stop all of it. She had to trust that the rest were able to get out of the way. Yet she could see that there were some that were on fire. She was about to help them only to see more fire coming at them.

She looked up at the eagles. Elijah looked down and nodded. As she blocked wave after wave of fire the eagles flew on as silently as they could. Then they landed behind them.

“Go on. Get on the back.” He told the men.

They nodded and they charged on as he took off. They soon climbed onto their backs and stabbed down. Yet they saw the eagles fly on to the other side and collected another fifty. As they dived onto the next row and stabbed the skulls they landed on the front and were able to stab their skulls. Then the eagles out another row the eagles were able to bring over more and more and the men were able to take out more.

Yet, as they did this again and again and again, the giant wyverns spotted this and looked back and saw them. At this they let out a blast of fire at them as they landed on their backs. This set more men on fire as they were too slow to dodge out of the way.

As they did this the ones at the front also looked back. At this, Loc and the rest of the men ran on and she fling Rock and Stone into their legs. Then they dived on and thrust their blades up and into the chins and pushed further up into the brain. Then they got out of the way and dived on and repeated the action. Soon they took out one after the other.

This caused the ones at the front to look back to see them. They sent a blast of fire at them. Loc stopped as much as she could. This gave the men the opportunity to dive on and drive their blades into the throats of the giant wyverns. Then they dived out of the way and onto the ones breathing the fire that Loc could not stop and sliced their throats. Then they dived on and on and on until that row came crashing down. 

Then they dived onto the ones behind and slit their throats before they could have the chance to do anything. Then they dived onto the next one and the next one and the next one. Soon another row fell. 

The men behind were able to take out more and more of the ones behind again and again and again and soon the giant wyverns were gone.

“Right. Two more divisions to go!”

“Good.”

“Then it’s the generals and finally Pendragon!”

“Yeah!”

Soon they attended to the injured and then buried the dead and burnt the giant wyverns. After a short break they marched on. Loc could see that the sun had just started to drop along with the temperature.
