The Nine Dragons The Dragon King Part Fifteen
The Gathering Men
Loc had a long and heavy sleep, right up until late morning. She could feel like her body was like it had been covered in water. She could see that everyone in the camp had found more dead to bury. Then she could smell that they were cooking and she could hear them laughing.
She could not help but feel a smile rest upon her lips. She was glad that they were all getting along. Yet she could not help but feel a shadow of dread pass over her. She could sense that all of this is nothing more than a calm before the storm. She could even swear that the clouds had become grey and thicker.
Her eyes rested upon a group that were dancing. Her eyes looked down, wondering how many would be left once Pendragon was dead. Yet she knew that she could not allow herself to become close to any of them. But she knew that after all of this, she should try to get to know at least some of them.
When she could feel that her body was ready, she moved around.
“How are you Commander Loc?” One asked.
She shrugged.
“Alright. You?”
“Most of us are alright. Yet only a handful were killed this time. Right now, we are burying those we found in the hydra’s stomachs.”
She let out a sigh of relief.
“Thank goodness for that.”
That was when one of them cleaned his throat. She looked at him and then saw the group of men behind him.
“Are you ready to be walking around like that?”
She nodded as she walked over to a rock. It was in this moment that she realized that she was hungry.
“Urm,”
That was when a plate of noodles, mixed meat and vegetables was shoved in front of her. She then noticed the eggs in there too.
“Thank you!”
“Pleasure. Yu Haru made it.”
She looked up to see an old man. He must have been in his late fifties, yet his muscles were well toned and his blue eyes looked sharp.
“Don’t mention it! Not the only one cooking.” He called as he nodded to a guy that Loc recognized. It was Ken Tengo!
“See you have come far, Loc!”
She smiled shyly.
“Yes. I have. Blimme are you a sight for sore eyes!”
“Commander Loc.”
“Yes?”
“We don’t have time for this.”
“Why?”
“I am Yuki Tanou. I have brought three hundred from my kingdom. Here's is a map of the continent where-”
He showed Ken a map.
“Good man.”
“Hold on, this is Loc. This girl?” Snapped on with black hair and eyes.
“Kai! No time for sexism!” Exclaimed one with brown hair and eyes.
“No! Brother! When you brought us here, you said that Loc was a guy!”
“That’s because I knew that you would never have come if you knew that shebwas a girl!” the other protested.
“Exactly!”
“Shut it! How many have you brought?”
“Seven hundred, each!” He said before turning back to his brother. “Now why don’t I take my seven hundred men and fight for your lot Kin?”
“Because I could beat you.”
He let out a huff.
“Fine! But my lot only obey my orders!”
“Alright. Then take my words as advice and try not to worry about me on the battlefield.”
“Fine!”
“Sorry about him! He’s just-”
“Brother! Don’t apologize on my behalf! Honestly! She should be at home!”
She looked to the side as the remark stung her.
“I would be if I had a home! But no! My sisters had to put an end to that! And all I’m trying to do is get back there. But I can’t!”
Where did that come from?
“Then go back.”
“Kind of difficult to, when it’s in a different world.”
Seriously! Where is this coming from?
“Oh. Well you’re just as useless as that Rého Rosecastle! Honestly, biggest let down in history!”
“Why?”
“Because he wanted to kill his stupid witch than help us!”
“Brother!”
“Fine! But I’m not apologizing!”
That was when a man with chalk blue hair and eyes approached her. Yet he had a cat-like face.
“Ao Neko.” He spoke with a quiet voice. “I have brought two hundred and seventy one.”
Then one with crimson hair and scarlet eyes came up to her, yet he had a feminine face but had a tall, well toned body.
“Aki Hana. Brought three hundred.”
“Girly name.”
“Brother!”
“Not apologizing!”
“Brother!”
“Still no!”
She smiled as she rolled her eyes.
“What?”
“Welcome to the army. I hope that you and your men do well. Although, I will warn you that you all must be willing to die.”
“They better!”
“They do.”
“Good. Now I’m going to eat. Then we will be off.”
“But we just got here!”
“So?”
Soon she turned to Ken Tango and caught up with him as she ate. Then at two o’clock they set off. Then at three o’clock they met five more men with a herd of men behind them.
“Are you Loc?” Asked an aged one with the top of his black hair in a bun.
“Yes.”
“I am Gin Kumo. I have brought five hundred and thirty five men with me. I would be honored if you would let me join you in your fight.”
“You don’t need my permission to do that.” Loc and Kai said at the same time. They looked at each other with a frown.
“I am Beyakua Bakka. I have brought one hundred and forty.”
“I’m Renji Bakka. I have brought three hundred and ninety five.”
“Ikaku Monda. Two hundred and eighty two.”
“Jingo Mané. Three hundred.”
She nodded.
“Welcome.”
Then they went on marching until nightfall. Where they joined another group.
“Yami Hikari. One thousand and nine hundred and thirty seven.”
“Kuro No Shiro. Eight thousand and ninety nine.”
“Shino Roku, four hundred and ninety nine.”
“Shirosaki Kiryu, one thousand and sixty eight.”
“Ichiro Zero, brought four thousand eight hundred and ninety.”
She nodded.
“Welcome.”
So, after marching more they all sat down, ate their food, set up camp and went to sleep.
