Scar Worlds Beyond The Doors Part Two

 Volcano Venture

Scar arrived in a very hot climate. She could see that the land was hard and the sky was dark. She looked around and saw that she was in the middle of a village of some kind. It was filled with brick houses lit by small chandeliers with oblong lights. With lampposts that looked the same way.

This is definitely not the same world I went to last time .

She then looked around and then the scent of smoke hit her nose. She then looked up at the sky only to realise that it was night with a sky littered with blue and turquoise stars. The next thing that she noticed that the entire sky was almost eclipsed in smoke!

She then quickly walked and looked around as people were walking to and fro like zombies. They all looked extremely dead like all life and light had crashed to a point that even the dust seemed to vanish.

Should I go and see if they are alright?

Sure! It may be fun.

Well I have nothing better to do. And adventure is the point of this.

She walked up to the nearest woman.

“Urm…Are you alright?”

She looked at the girl and shook her head.

“Why?”

She looked at the mountain in the distance. To her shock, that was where the smoke was coming from! It was within milliseconds when they realised that it was not a mountain at all!

Why are the people not already evacuating?

“The one that lives in Smoke Mountain forbids us from leaving. He kills all who have tried.”

“Why?”

“He thinks that the destruction that happened a hundred years ago was all made up. We know that we all should leave when the cloud eclipses the sky and return when the rivers of fire disappear. Just like our ancestors taught us.”

Scar nodded.

“Right. This I will go.” She said as she went to turn to it. “By the way do you have a map?”

“No. If you go, you will end up like my son.”

“Then I will do what I can to not die.”

“Good luck. Excuse me.” She said, pushing past her.

Scar soon looked at the volcano. She walked on as fast as she could without burning too much energy. She looked directly at the volcano, not taking her eyes off it once. She trekked on for a long time for a long time until she felt her feet become tired. She quickly ate her sandwich as she let her feet rest before getting back up. After a while she found herself at the foot of the volcano.

She just circled around it looking up and down to find out where the entrance point was. She soon saw the main entrance. It was a large stone cave mouth with an additional man made structure stemming from the mouth of the cave out in an arch with a point at the top. She saw many people working there. Which was an amount that it was safe to conclude that she was not getting in that way. She remembered reading about volcanos in her textbooks and knew that there was another way in. So, she circled it again to fund it. Which she soon did. It was a small csbr that only one of her size could crawl in.

She climbed up to it. Then she dropped to her knees then climbed down, put her bag down and tied it to her ankle before crawling inside. She gritted her teeth as the rock dug into her hands and knees and shins. She knew that she had to continue. She could feel the heat rise into her face. Yet she could not afford to stop and enjoy it for one second. As she continued, she kept her eyes fixed on the red light ahead. She knew that if she did not, then claustrophobia would kick in.  She knew that the moment that happened, then she would collapse under the pressure. So she continued. When she finally reached the tunnel she saw the flowing lava. Next to it she saw a man smiling as he pushed a man in.

He then knelt down and looked up then he saw her. He then nodded. Soon a pair of hands grabbed her wrists and arms and was dragged out. Her eyes met those of the leader.

“So, who are you? And where do you come from?”

“Scar, you?”

“I am King Volcator. Tell me, where do you come from? You don’t look like you come from anywhere I know of!”

“One that knows that the volcano is about to erupt any day now.”

“Oh, you think that I do not know that?”

She was taken back by this. Her eyes widened in shock.

“You…you mean that you know?”

He smiled.

“Of course I know! Do you really think that I don’t believe the destruction of one hundred years ago? No! I can tell that you’re not from around here so I hardly think that I need to keep it from you.”

“Then why?”

“Did I lie?” He said as he laughed. “Well I intended to use those villagers as a human sacrifice.”

“What?”

“To my god Volfalgo. See he will give me all I need. Riches, wealth and women! All! I can have it all!”

Scar had to hide her disbelief. She also knew that she would have to bring an end to this tyrant’s reign. Yet she knew that she just could not kill him here, not with his guards here. She knew that she would have to give herself an opening that would stop them from stopping her from putting an end to him and from being killed after.

“Tell me does Volfalgo like fights?” She asked.

He smiled.

“Yes, yes he does. Especially one to the death.”

“Then how about we have one?”

He shrugged.

“Why not indeed?”

He then pulled out a sword and then threw a blade to her. She caught it. She could feel the weight of it. Yet shebwas taken back by it, another thing that she was taken back by was just how familiar the blade felt. She did not have the time to appreciate it as she looked at the man as he looked at her. She had to get all distractions out of her mind.

Can I do this? Can I actually do this? I mean he has so much more experience than me and I have barely any.

Well, there’s no time like the present.

Wjw then looked the guy in the eyes. She could tell, by his weight, that even though he was once a mighty fighter, mainly by his stance, he was badly out of shape and had not fought in a long time. This, she hoped, she could use to her advantage.

She then placed her bag on the ground before she ran to him. She first went to strike upwards, this he blocked. She went to strike to the left, he blocked. To the right again, he blocked again. She jumped and went to strike down. He blocked. She jumped to the right and he soon blocked another strike. When did the same to the right and he still blocked. She knew that she was not getting an opening this way. So she jumped back.

He then dove close to her and whacked down. She was just about able to block the blade and found that she must have been stronger than other people. Yet the power made her arms shake slightly. This forced her to grip the blade harder. She was struck again and again and again, each time she was able to block. She was so concentrated on the blade that she failed to see the foot in her side.

She flew to the left. She almost fell into the lava if she did not force her blade down to slow herself down. She let out a sigh as she stopped right before the lava. She then looked up at the man. He was already on top of her. He hit her in the stomach again and again and again. Then she dropped the sword and grabbed his heel and pulled herself forward. She dived away from the lava. Yet he lost his balance. Soon his weight caused him to lose balance even more. With a scream he fell into the lava.

She looked at it in disbelief. She could not believe that she had just won.

Did I really just do that? Or was this a strange dream?

No. If it was he would have turned into those witches and beat me.
