The First Fob Watch
There was once a watch maker, who was
the doting father of twin daughters. Their names were, Kira and Akira. Event
though they looked identical there personalities were far from so. Akira was
pure of heart and could not be more humble even if she had tried, mean while
Kira was the complete opposite, she liked to play cruel tricks on her friends
and brag about everything.
One day Kira went to get father and put on the face that he would always
melt and do anything for. It was the face that always worked on her father and
occasionally her mother. She was always spoilt and had placed the family in far
too much debt. Her eyes were big with a false display of innocence that her
twin had in abundance.
"Father, can you make me a watch that I can wear around my neck
like a pendent?" She asked as the poor man sat. He looked at his daughter
with misplaced delight and pride.
"Yes, it will be a delight!" He replied as she left him to it.
On that night he melted down the rocks and poured the magma into the
carvings that he had made and as he did this he cut his thoumb on an uneven and
sharp part of the handle. Knowing that there was nothing that he could do at
that moment he let the blood flow into the magma and started mixing in it. When
he had finished cutting and moulding the clockwork he was so hot that it seemed
that water was coating his flesh as he took up a pair of tweezers to fit each
piece into place.
Over the coming weeks he fit together the labyrinth of clockwork and as
he did he found himself getting weaker and more obsessed with the device. He
spent more and more time with it than he ever did with anything else and he
spent less and less time with his wife and daughters. It was so bad that at a
point nothing else mattered to him but the completion of that watch.
Little did he realize the truth of what was actuality going on for little
by little his very soul and spirit became trapped in the watch as each piece
absorbed his sweat, blood and tears. So when the time came when he had
completed the watch and slid it through the silver chain he spotted that it was
time to set the time. He pullet up the pin and set the clock to the time and
when he pressed the lid down he fell down, dead!
The following morning when his wife and daughters came to his workshop
to check up on him they discovered his corpse and in his hand was the first fob
watch. When Kira spotted it she snatched it up and placed it to her heart happy
now that her watch was complete not even caring that her father was dead. Then
she too fell down dead!
Her mother looked at her daughter and started to whale and cry as Akira
took up the watch and placed it next to her ear. Horror entered her eyes as she
turned to her mother. She placed it next to her ear but she was unphased and
continued crying.
"Can't you hear it mother?" She asked.
"Hear what?" She cried.
"The ticking. It's not right." She explained.
"Whatever do you mean?" She asked as her face beneath her eyes
was as wet as the puddles outside.
Her eyes filled with even more horror as she placed the watch next to
her ear wandering if she had misheard but no she did hear everything correctly.
For what she heard was not the monotone tick, tock, tick, tock but in its place
was two whispering voices say two chilling words in the very same rhythm help,
me, help, me, help, me, help, me, help, me...
