Strena The Voyage Part Nine

 Docking

It was a week after the ships came and they could see the sand of the Desert Planes. Strena felt a smile on her face. She felt her heartbeat increase as every cell in her body teemed with excitement. She was finally retiring home. She was really returning home. Her eyes lit up with a sense of nostalgia as she looked at the pyramids. Then the buildings and the people. Yet, as she looked at them, she noticed how dark their skins were darker than her’s.

Maybe my skin will become as dark as it ought to be.

Yet, as she looked at Zaryb she remembered the truth. Then she felt her excitement turn to focus. After all, she knew that this would help her learn more of the truth of her father. She also knew that she would have to be careful too. She could not afford anyone recognizing her. She also knew that this would be the place where her identity would most likely be exposed.

“Are you-”

“No. Just fealing……I don’t know.”

Her eyes narrowed.

“Not scared, but…..”

“Concerned.”

She nodded.

“Don’t. It’s been over six years.”

“Will they-”

Then she saw the bows pointing at the ship. Then they fired. It took all her will to stop all the arrows in the air.

“Looks like we’re expected!”

Strena looked at him and saw the evil face of Wolfox.

“It seems so. I’ll focus on stopping the arrows. You focus upon them.”

“Who do you think I am? Why don’t you do it?”

“Because, Wolfox, you’re better at this. In the meantime, I’ll protect you with my magic.”

His smile widened.

“So you’re able to tell, hur?” He asked leaning in. “How can you tell?”

“Not telling!”

She saw the second set of arrows at them. She stopped. Then he ran to the point of the ship. He took out several tiny daggers. Then the third wave of arrows came at not Zaryb but her! She quickly stopped the arrows. She felt slightly shaky as she started to realize that she was their only target!

The next thing she saw was the tiny daggers at the first set at the front. The others on the left ran to the right and they fired at her again. She stopped as the ones on the left were killed. Then the ones on the far right moved to the left and fired at her. She stopped them and more tiny daggers fired at them.

That was when they were all pushed aside and they pulled out the cannons. Then they fired directly at her. She shook as she stopped them. Then she, while they were loading another ball, forced a wave of water at them. Then, once the wave came down, they were hit by a wave of tiny daggers directly at their heads. Then they ran to the center. She pushed another wave at them and more were hit by the tiny daggers at them. Then more grouped in. One row was in front of another. She made the wave, the front were hit by the tiny daggers.

They came closer and closer to the shore. Yet it soon became clear that, if she was the target, she would have to do something or she would be killed.

Then she remembered what Chashathrophogh had said about not needing any contact to get a mass of people to fall asleep. She put out her hand and closed her eyes and used all her will to put all on the shore to fall asleep. Yet she kept on putting as much magic into it as she could. So, once she felt the strain. She stopped and opened her eyes. All were asleep.

When they set foot on the land she had to place her hand on the sand and pick it up. She watched the grains fall out of her fingers just to prove to herself it was real. Then they soon passed the sore town without any challenge.
