Bounty Hunter Bash The Desert Bounty Lock Part Four

 Another Job

They arrived at a bounty hunter’s tavern. Bash and Chashathrophogh felt the heat of the sun was beating down upon them. They could feel their skin burning as their bodies felt ice cold. However, they knew that protective spells and potions against the heat of the sun would be very pricey in this region. So she walked in with Strena and Zaryb. They looked at the jobs on the board and looked at each of the posters. Her eyes narrowed as they looked for their jobs.

“What about this one Uncle Zaryb and Miss Bash?”

“Too easy for us. Also it’s clear that Chash’ and Bash need the Sun potion so we need to take something that is on par with our level.”

Bash looked at him, shocked.

“Hold on, she’s on our level?”

“Yeah, I train her day in and day out so that she would be stronger than your average woman twice her age.”

She nodded as the took a glance at the girl. Then her eyes returned to the job board again.

How hard did he train her?

Hayan Hotta

Murderer and Thief

10 Rubies And 1 Emerald

That’s it!

She pulled it off.

“This is the one that we’re taking.”

“Alright, then let’s go.”

So they walked out and joined the rest of the group.

“We have our job.” She said, turning it over for details.

Last seen in Irgtem

“Irgtem, eh? That’s a strange place for someone like that!”

“Why?”

“It’s mainly only people there.”

“Really, a place where he’ll get it easy? Why wouldn’t he go there?”

So, once they packed up their things and set off. It did not take them long to travel to Irgtem. It was a low town with buildings with only one floor, with an open rooftop. They could see all the old people, walking to and fro on their wooden canes. Some were extravagantly carved and others were just simple. Some were missing limbs, some were blind, some had their bodies disfigured in some way. Yet there were some in robes of bold and rich colours and others were plane and thin.

Bash looked around to see that there was not a youth in sight. She saw that there were no animals either.

How do these people get their food? She wondered as she looked around as she looked at a river next to the town. There was a group of boats with several young men on them. They all doomed wooden boxes and barrels onto the docks. Then younger old men and women picked them up and travelled into the town. Once this was all done they rowed off up the river.

Looks like that answers that!

She and the other two bounty hunters as they walked up to the closest old man and woman.

“Tell me, have you seen this man?” Bash asked as she could feel herself sweating and her skin burning.

They looked down at it and smiled and nodded.

“Yes dear, he arrived here three months ago! Yet, despite him being nothing but a sweet heart, ever since he arrived the people that live here seem to die faster than normal. In fact, my neighbor did yesterday after he visited her. She let out a horrible scream. When he left he gave me bread and cheese. He also made sure that we were alright.”

“Yes, then when he went over to them, they were both on the ground. They all looked like they were sleeping. There was no sound on their bodies.”

Bash widened her eyes and looked back at Cerpheres.

“I could tell you what happens, although you won’t like the answer!” He purred with a dark and devious smirk.

She let out a sigh.

“Tell it.”

“He has a way to kill people without bringing harm to the bodies, so it would look natural. Not even looking like there was not even the least drop of poison on them. Honestly, it’s a work of art!” He said, whispering slightly at the end.

Bash nodded as the only couple looked at him appalled.

“How dear you, you dirty minded man! Hayan is nothing but a sweet man!”

He let out a chuckle.

“Let me guess, he seems to be a good man that wouldn’t hurt a fly, am I right?”

“Yes.”

“So how could you say such a vile thing about him in such a vulgar way!”

“Because it’s his trademark. He gets close to people by making them think that he is the best thing to happen to them. Then he gets closer and closer and closer, until they trust him completely. Then days later they’re found dead without a wound on them, or a drop of poison in them then he moves onto the next victim. Honestly, it’s a work of art!” He moaned, his hands out and looking like a drunk.

“Oh you vile man! You need to clean your mind and mouth!”

“Tell me, will he visit you tonight?” She asked.

“Why, yes.”

“Then would you mind if we stay over at yours? If he’s lying then it would become evident, but if what he says is true, then you will have us to save you.” Bash explained. “Also, I can tell that you would love the company.”

The old woman smiled.

“Sure sweety.”

Soon they followed them to their house near the docks. They had a set of stairs to the roof. In the room ahead was the kitchen area and to the left doorway was the living room, which was also the bedroom.

They took their spots on a chair. Bash and Chashathrophogh were both glad to be out of the sun. She could tell that if they had to spend any more time in the sun, it would cause serious damage compromising their ability to perform.

It was not until night time until he came. He was thin and dark skinned with cruel and grey eyes. His hair was light pink in a maroon robe. In his hand was a staff with a white orb and a black orb at the butt. In the centre were runes.

“So, that’s how he does it!” He whispered.

“What?”

“That staff, the runes in. They translate to ‘I transfer the life to the death’.

“So what does that mean?” Whispered Strena

He pulled her close.

He pulled her close and pointed at the white orb.

“That is a life force transferer staff. See that white orb?”

“Yeah.”

“If you touch that and touch the black orb with your victim, you will be able to not just kill him or her but take their remaining life force and transfer it to you. However, the only catch is, it only works if you have a disease or condition that is causing you to die.”

They all looked at him shocked and turned back and slapped the man in his face. Yet they looked back to Hayan Hotta as he coughed and then they saw droplets of blood before he wiped it away.

So he is dying.

Still, like it or not, he is still a job. She thought as he almost touched the old lady with the black orb. She quickly kicked it away. This took him by surprise and the orb slid to the side and hit the old man. He soon fell down. She looked to the side as she let out a scream. Soon the orb struck before Bash could stop and she collapsed beside him. Bash immediately checked for a pulse but could not find out e. She then looked up in horror as she saw the black orb coming at her. Bash slammed it away.

He looked up at her. He spun the staff and pointed the black orb at her. She dived back and pulled out her bow and arrow. She then saw his hand on the white orb. It glowed and he looked less fragile.

She quickly fired at the staff and it broke. Strena dived at his legs. He punched her in the head and kicked her in the stomach. Bash dived for his stomach and Zaryb gripped his wrists and pulled them back. Bash hit him in the face again and again and again. Then she drove his palm into his throat as hard as she could and he fell.

Strena put a bag over his head. Bash and Zaryb dived to his hands and feet and bound them as fast as they could. Soon they left and collected their bounty. They bought their potions and were soon feeling much better.
