Doormaze Drage The Orange World Part Eight

 Hunger


They were quenched but their stomachs still felt like they were filled with nails. Yet they knew that they could not do anything about it without crossing a line that none of them were willing to cross. Yet as they continued their strength was fading like smoke. But they forced themselves on and on with everything that they had. None of them could remember the last time that they ate since they came here.

Yet as they walked on and on and on their heads became light and dizzy. They could feel that even their bodies felt light and achy all over. Yet as they pushed on their heads ached and their eyelids were dropping. They were seeing their vision become double and blurry. Their brains were also getting foggy as their thoughts became strange.

I want a bunny! I want a nice bunny. One that I can cook and eat.

But I don’t even know how to cook! 

Then I will learn! I don’t care.

Does it taste nice?

I don’t know!

Then her eyes dropped to her arm.

What about bugs? Do they taste nice? What about that flame creature? Could they be eaten?

I don’t know! Probably not.

I’m gonna see if I can.

But isn’t it fire?

I need food.

That was when she saw a rabbit. Shr dived to it only for it to be revealed to be nothing. She frowned as she looked all around only to see that there was not a bunny in sight!

“Where’d the bunny go?”

“What bunny?”

“The one that was here!”

“There’s no bunny here.”

“But I saw it!”

“Doormaze there is no bunny here.”

“But-”

That was when Burn looked at a spot and collapsed on the floor. Then she frowned and looked up. Her eyes were wide and wild. Drool flowed from her chin. Shd then dived at her. Doormaze dived out of the way. Then she looked to the side as Coalmine was also looking mad.

“Food! I can smell food!”

She looked around.

“Wh-where’s the food! Both of you! I-I know you have food! I can smell it!”

She grabbed both girls by the throat then sniffed up.

“Where are you hiding it? Where are you hiding it! Where are you hiding the food!”

“We don’t have any food!”

“Liar! I can smell it on you! So where is it?”

“We don’t!”

That was when she sniffed again as her grip tightened as she looked all around them. Then she let go and shook with shock in her eyes. She placed her hands to her lips and let out a scream. Her eyes were wild in nothing but horror. She started to back away and her face became as pale as death. She dropped to her knees and curled up in shock.

“I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry!”

She then broke out in weeping. This was when they collapsed as they too wept.

 Water It was a whole week when they arrived at Dalane Lake. They had, by that point, been out of their supplies for a day before they arrived. They were all exhausted and were at their wits ends. So the moment that they saw the sparkling water they ran to it, their minds blinded by their hunger and thirst. The moment that they reached the water they saw the lush crop of fish they smiled.
