The Nine Dragons Dracula, The Dragon Prince Part Ten
Underground
When the doors opened they all saw the steps and walked down them.
“So, Loc, how long do you think that this will last?”
“As long as it lasts.”
Good..keep your distance. Don’t get attached.
“Right…and what will you do after this?”
“Find a piece of one of the Reality Spheres, I guess.”
“Oh. And?”
“Get to the next world.”
Hopefully, it will be my world.
“And want one more?”
“No.”
Go away.
“But please! It’s no fun doing it alone!”
“And?”
He put his arm around her.
“It’s always fun to have someone with you!”
She cocked her eyebrow.
“And?”
Please, go away.
“Well-”
“No.”
His jaw dropped.
“C’mon, please?”
“No.”
“Pretty please with cheese on top?”
“No!”
She looked ahead to see a chamber.
Oh good! A distraction.
“There’s a chamber here.”
“Oh.”
They all walked in and looked around to see that none were here.
Probably resting here is safe.
“Right. Break time!” She called.
“Alright.”
“Thank you.”
“Oh good.”
“No.”
“We all need breaks. We’re not like you!”
“But we were like you. And we can never return to the way we were.”
“I know! I mean before all this I had a wife and children. When I died, I thought it would all be over. But when I woke up and saw what happened, the first thing that I did was return to them. Yet upon-upon seeing me, my-my daughter looked up to me and screamed ‘Monster! Monster!’ then my wife came in and I wanted to run up to her and hug her. Then tell her all about what happened but she screamed ‘Get away, run, run!’ then turned to me and shouted ‘And you stay away from my daughter! Were you not satisfied with my husband? Now get out and if you set foot in my house I will not hesitate to kill you!’” The poor eagle man broke down crying.
Loc reached out a hand and let him cry on her shoulder.
That was when the men that tried to talk to her sat down.
“Let out your woh!
There is one thing I know!
“Even in our weakness we can be strong,
Shed those tears for they are not wrong,
Take your step into the road ahead,
Be it young, old or mourning the dead.
“Does the night stop the stars?
Do you need to hide your scars?
“Even in our weakness we can be strong,
Shed those tears for they are not wrong,
Take your step into the road ahead,
Be it young, old or mourning the dead.
“Let the rain clean and cleanse the cuts,
Before the sun shines and the wound shuts,
“Even in our weakness we can be strong,
Shed those tears for they are not wrong,
Take your step into the road ahead,
Be it young, old or mourning the dead.”
“What’s wrong with you Jeho?”
“It needed to be sung.”
He let out a sigh.
“What is wrong with you?”
“I have a song in my heart that can not be silent!”
Yet Loc could not help but hum it as she found it soothing for so e reason that she could not place her finger upon.
“See? She gets it!”
She rolled her eyes.
Come on!
“And?”
That was when she heard the
sound of something swinging.
“Shh!”
“What?”
That was when the wall broke down.
