The Nine Dragons The Dragon Of The Ground Part Ten
Journey To The
Next Level
Loc, Ryu, Shiro and Kuro held a moment of silence. They thought about the six that had died. She heard Shiro and Kuro crying as they looked back to where that all came from. They knew that they had one army left. After that it would be the generals and then it would be the dragon. That would be the hard part. Loc looked to her side.
“Are you sure that you want to continue?” She asked them.
“Kuro and me don’t have a choice. The moment Georost finds out that we exist he will seek to kill us. And, after all I have seen, I know that my younger cousin and me can’t go back to the chambers.”
“Well said…Although…urm…nevermind.”
“Ryu?”
“I’m seeing this through to the end. After all, my name is known and the only thing that I have to lose is my life.”
So they don’t mind death. Well in this situation they might as well be dead. There will be only one thing that will bring them back to the dead is to win.
“Right. Then I will do all that I can to be anything but dead weight.”
“Good. You have done well so far. You know, Loc, I can actually see you taking down Georost.”
She smiled, suddenly feeling shy.
“We will see. But we need to go on.”
“Well said!” He declared patting her shoulder.
They then walked on and on and on. They walked until their bodies told them that it was night. However they all wanted to walk on and on. So they knew that they needed to do something to keep themselves awake.
“Two royal girls of fate,
Had uncles dark but great,
One met a sudden mysterious end,
And the other death will never send!”
“Both born out of wedlock,
Starting the gods ticking clock,
One killed a false heir,
One left body dead and bare.”
“Two royal girls of fate,
Had uncles dark but great,
One met a sudden mysterious end,
And the other death will never send!”
“One forsaken every name,
The other gained her fame,
She who’s empire was built by blood,
She who’s throne seat will never flood!”
“Two royal girls of fate,
Had uncles dark but great,
One met a sudden mysterious end,
And the other death will never send!”
“One who’s killer will never be known,
The other will never sit on her throne,
Some say her blood never rust,
Her feet will walk the dust!”
“What was that?”
“A song from my world.” She explained as she suddenly felt her heart was flooded with guilt. “Have you got any?”
Ryu nodded.
“There was a girl from long ago,
With dots in her eyes I have you know,
She claimed to be from world not ours,
She prepared a way for another from her home,
She shall be a mother of a deadly star,
From world to world will she learn from and Rome.”
“Nine dragons,
Three armies each,
One girl,
Will fight and reach!”
“The moment her foot rests,
Will be the first of her tests,
The first to fall will be the snake,
The second be of the sky,
Before the third she exposes the fake,
The fourth will make her cry!”
“Nine dragons,
Three armies each,
One girl,
Will fight and reach!”
“Even though the fifth will never burn,
Her limits though him she will learn,
The sixth will be filled with death,
She will leave his land filled with thriving life,
The seventh will breathe her last breath,
But the eighth will be the prelude of the strife!”
“Nine dragons,
Three armies each,
One girl,
Will fight and reach!”
“Her greatest challenge will demand,
All that will be under her command,
Their battle will shape the globe,
And change the whole land,
The sea will be his death robe,
His bones will be an island!”
“What’s that one?”
“The song of the rebel. He was the apprentice of the woman that was from another world, like yourself and she had dots in her eyes too!”
“Tell me, her name wasn’t Philosteria Tenpol, was it?”
“Yeah.”
“How did you know?”
“From my world she was a Legendier of the Third Age Of Legends.”
Ryu’s eyes widened.
“Wow!”
“What about you two, do you have any songs?”
“Yes.”
Loc raised her eyebrow.
“We mourn the day,
We had to hide away,
And let the dragon have his way,
Here in the dark we all must stay!”
“We dream every night,
Of returning to the light,
When we can take arms and fight,
And the king called white,
To put everything right!”
“We will dance in glee,
When the dragon will flee,
And we are all free,
Then the sky we will see!”
“The fields we will run,
Bathe in the bright sun,
Our dragon is done,
The battle will be won!”
“The dragon will rest,
They will fight and best,
White survives the test,
Hero kills the old pest!”
“Catchy!” Both Loc and Ryu said at the same time.
They looked at each other. Then they looked away with a smile.
There’s that racing heart again! Gahhh! Need to get that under control!
So she let out a long and deep breath, however, that did nothing. When they knew that they could travel no longer and their stomachs rumbled and they were exhausted they finally cut down and ate a sandwich each. After they flopped down and their eyes closed.
Loc saw six figures in her dreams. She knew that they were all the dragons that she will inevitably face. Yet it was the one in the far distance that seemed to be getting closer and closer that she knew that she had to be concerned about the most. It seemed every time she dreamt of him he seemed to get bigger and bigger. Yet she could tell that he was still miles and miles away. Unpin looking at him, she knew that it would be a miracle to defeat him.
Then her eyes opened and they ate their breakfast. They soon were off. As they walked on, Loc could not help but look at Ryu. Almost as if she wanted to take in every detail of his handsome face.
Talk to him. Part of her urged her.
Why? He’s only going to die like all the rest.
But what if he doesn’t? What if he lives and finds someone and gets married?
Then she thought of him with someone else. This caused her blood to boil. This caused her to frown.
Why don’t I like the idea that Ryu will end up with someone else? Is-is this jealousy? Why am I jealous? I should be happy if that happens!
Then get that out of your head. You need to focus. After all you need to get that shard, you need to get home.
Can he come?
Suddenly she thought of him in her world. Her heartbeat increased as she smiled. Picturing her introducing him to Morgan. Yet, she had to remind herself, that she was most likely dead.
Then they came to a sloping tunnel and they walked down it. As they walked and walked they soon spotted a wolf made of rock in from to them. It went to dive at Shiro and Kuro but they smashed the head of the axe into the head. Soon it fell.
“Keep your guard up Shiro?”
He nodded.
“Why did it go just for us?” He asked.
“Maybe it knew who you are and knew that you needed to be eliminated.”
They looked at her in shock.
“How and why?”
“One, I don’t know and two, to get rid of any hope. After all, once word gets out that you exist, I’m certain that it would stir up hope in those that have none and it would be in the dragon’s best interest to anuf it out before it encourages others to act upon this hope.”
They looked at her in a mixture of shock and impressed by her deductions.
“Now we need to move on. If we’re fortunate we will clear the lowest level before sundown.”
They nodded and they walked on and on. They travelled lower and lower and lower. Then there was a corner and they walked around it. Then they saw a group of rock wolves. They all looked at Kuro and Shiro.
They all dived at them. Loc and Ryu looked at each other then back at them. They ran to the group. Loc hot one in the head, Ryu did the same. Yet a row of two pounced at them. Shiro and Kuro whacked them all with all their might. Then they ran on. Then they saw more coming at them. Then Kuro heard a smash to the side of him. He looked to his left to see Ryu before he hit another.
Then Shiro looked up to one and hit it. He rolled on and thrust the axe down. Then he too heard a smash beside him and looked to his right to Loc. She hammered one and another and he noticed that she looked at Ryu for a moment before returning to battle. So he did the same. He smashed head after head until none were left.
“That was fast.”
“Yeah.”
So they all walked on and they reached the next level and the next and final army lay.
