Scar Adventures Beyond The Door Arc Part Four
The First Quest
They arrived at the hut of the faun. Charlotte knocked politely on the door of the hut. They waited for a while before Charlotte knocked upon it again. They waited for another while before Charlotte turned to her daughter.
"Seems like no one's home."she responded until a man with a lower half of a goat and a loose fitting jacket and a kilt answered.
" Hi, I'm Charlotte and this is-"
"By the Great Being above! It is a Mythos Puros!"
At this Charlotte slapped him.
"What was that for?"
"Look, I'm sorry, but I have no clue why you keep calling her that, but her name is Scar, got it? She doesn't like that!" She snapped leaving Scar stunned.
He looked down and nodded.
"Right, I am sorry." He said. "I hope that you forgive me, Scar. I am afraid that I let my outburst of astonishment get the better of me."
She nosed, accepting his apology.
"I just don't like being called that. It's what a group of witches used to call me." She admitted.
This caused Charlotte to look at her in shock as the faun nodded. Ignoring this, Scar realised that she did not know the guy's name.
"So what is your name?" She asked.
"Billion Irinoh. Oh and you better come in."
"No, I need to save my other kids." Charlotte said.
"Right, however, I think that it will take a while to tell you. So come in, I will make you some tea." He said.
"Thank you." They said.
They walked in. Within moments Billion came in with the cups. They noticed that the place was made up of one room and all the walls were covered with books. He then placed them down and spotted that the colour of the tea was a deep green. Even though they took their cups, Scar gave her mother a warning glance as she waited for Billion to take the first drink. This he did.
"Now, what you bed is the sword of Phorap the Mad." He said, clearly wanting to get down to business and not wanting to waste any time, he whipped out a map.
They looked at the map and looked at all the places on it.
"Now, you need to get here." He said punting at a section of the map called Fallencastle. "This is where you will get the blade that will help you save the rest of your family."
They nodded.
"Do we have to go there? Is there not a shortcut?"
"Unfortunately, no."
Charlotte looked down and tried not to look too hurry by this.
"Is there anything we need to know?"
"Yes Scar, there is. Unfortunately none have ever returned to where you are to go."
She nodded.
"Scar,"
She looked at her mother with a strange fire in her eyes.
"I'm coming."
"But, there are-"
"I know." She said as she drank the rest of the tea within one long gulp. "Thank you for the tea Mr Irinoh."
Charlotte, feeling strangely unnerved, did the same.
"Yeah, thanks for the tea." She said as she looked down at the map. She was about to open her mouth but Billion rolled it up and gave it to her.
"Have it."
"Thanks!"
They then left and Charlotte waited to get out of ears distance before she turned top Scar.
"What was that back there?"
"Hum?"
She longed at her and shrugged, but she looked at the girl, trying to ignore the fire of determination that was stool in her eyes.
"We will return." She said with conviction.
"Yes, we will, but that is not what. I meant." She said, trying to ignore that very fire infect her. Yet she could even feel a strange certainty behind those words rest within her heart. Another thing that became certain was that they were going to get Bill and Bliss back. Yet as they walked, she soon looked at her daughter, knowing that she would have to get her trained up. This would cause the girl to question things about her that she could not tell her, but she knew that and would have to keep the answers to a bare minimum.
"Look, if you're gonna come with me, then you're gonna have to train with me."
She looked at her mother with a frown.
"You mean, you know how to fight?"
She placed a hand on her hip.
"Hey, I would have you know that I was trained by a world top assassin!"
Scar rolled her eyes.
"What! I was!" She said with a high pitched tone.
They soon were on the road after a quick session.
"Wow! I did not know that you could fight like that!"
She smirked.
"I know!"
"You know, I really could believe that you were trained by an assassin."
"'Could'?"
"Come on!"
They soon came to a field where they were soon greeted by a sphinx with black hair and silver eyes. She had a white lion's body and wing's like a dove. Yet there was an air around her that gave her a commanding presence. Though she was large that was not the source of this penance, no, that belonged to her eyes that were filled with wisdom and authority.
"Tell me, are you the two who wish to pass on?"
"We are."
"Good. Now, Charlotte Kill," she said, Charlotte looked at her shocked and she looked slightly pale and there was a small sorrowful look in her eyes. "Should I wish it, how would be the best way to kill someone with a gun?"
"Shoot the body and take two shots. However, aiming for the head is too risky as it is a smaller target."
Scar looked at her shocked at what she had just said. She did not expect that she would know that, not did she expect that she would say it in such a matter of fact way.
She smiled revealing teeth that are like that of a lions'.
"Now, Mythos Puros,"
"Scar."
She gave her a look of mild annoyance.
"Mythos Puros." She insisted. "Tell me how do you overcome an internal scar?"
She huffed.
"I don't know if you can! But I think exposure I guess."
She nodded though she did not look pleased.
"For your honesty I give you this." She said as she gave her a key from under her wings. "You shall know when to use it."
She looked down to see that it was a key that looked Somalia's to the one she had though the teeth were different.
"You know, we have a jet that looks just like that one."
"Which one of you found it?" She asked.
"Scar did!" Charlotte exclaimed, patting both her shoulders.
"Mum!"
The sphinx smiled.
"Looks like the Mythos Puros is descended from Johan Close!"
Share rolled her eyes.
"Cone on mum." She said as she took hold of her hand.
"Hold on! I can fly you to your destination!" She said.
"Not if you keep calling me Mythos Puros. It's Scarborough Cox, or Scar. And mum's Charlotte Cox not Kill."
Charlotte placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Actually, that was my last name. Can't go into it but I have to go by the name Cox okay."
She frowned but soon came to the conclusion that she would tell her when the time came.
"So will you take up my offer?"
"Will you call me Scar?"
"Alright, Scar."
She laid down for them to be able to climb on her and before they knew it she flew off and they had to hold up tightly in order not to fall off. They flew over a great deal of fields and hills. They were able to see the small towns on the islands in the sky. They all saw the people on the ground like ants. They had not even thought about the fact that they were flying on the back of a sphinx!
They were soon landing in front of the runes of a large castle that had four large towers and only two floors left. Everything else was full of rubble. The whole building was covered with greenery and flowers. This was Fallencastle.
"Know how to get in?" She asked.
"You enter the dream world. It will break the spell that has been placed on this place for two thousand years. May the Great Being be with you." She said as they landed.
They climbed off and the moment that they were off his back she flew off. They then set up their camp and ate their first meal. They, knowing that there was nothing else to do, mother and daughter fell asleep in each other's arms to keep the other warm. They awoke in the dream world.
"So, all we need to do is do whatever it is we need to do and then wake up."
"In a nutshell."
"Do let's get this done! I just hope that we-"
"We won't!"
They walked down a small and narrow corridor that had thin slates for bricks and were uneven. Charlotte suddenly felt the hand of Scar grip hers tightly. As they reached the door she could feel her shaking.
"Scar? Are you…"
She then looked up and then opened it.
"Here." She said as she pushed the door open revealing the witches. Scar froze yet she had the look of dread in her young eyes.
"They're the witches aren't they?"
She nodded. She paved a hand on her shoulder and looked her dead in the eye.
"Look, they're just part of the dream. They can't hurt you."
She looked at her unconvinced.
"Th-this is a magic dream."
"That's right or dear Mythos Puros! You have been taught well! And you have grown fast!"
Scar looked aside and trembled.
"Her name's Scar! And I don't care who you are or what you did to my daughter but as long as I live, you will never hurt her again!" She shouted.
They shrugged this off.
"Then we will rise when you are dead."
They then raised their hands to her and then suddenly Charlotte felt a pain in the back of her hand. She let out a scream, she had not felt pain like it! She looked down and to her shock she saw that her hand was covered in blood! She just could not believe what she was seeing until she could feel the blood drip off her hand.
"W-what? I-I thought that you could not feel pain in dreams!"
She then looked up and to her shock they were gone!
"Now what?" She said, trying to distract herself.
"The next door."
"Hopefully it won't have any blasts from our pasts!"
They then walked on and saw the next door and opened it.
"Looks like I spoke too soon." She said as she closed her eyes in dread. "Scar, I am sorry for what I am about to show you."
Scar nodded.
"Kill."
"Long time no see."
"Mum, who is this?"
"You don't need to know."
She nodded.
"I will ask later and I will tell you everything too."
She nodded as she ran to him and kicked him in the groin. She soon pulled out a gun and shot twice without thinking.
"W-what was that?"
She smoked and shrugged.
"Well this is a dream so that was not the real man. No, he would've killed me!"
She nodded as they some up. They were inside the runes. In front of them was a blade with a purple centre leading to a lilac edge. The hilt was silver with emeralds scattered at each end. In the mouths of dragon heads and their bodies twisted into the shape of the hilt with a rose made of ruby, trapped in between the edge of the tails.
Scar then walked up and pulled it out. Then they were greeted by a bright flash of light and soon it faded and they were back in their camp. Yet as Scar admired the beauty of the sword Charlotte looked at the back of her hand and to her shock she saw that there was a deep cut there...
