Scar Adventures Beyond The Door Arc Part Six
The Dark Lords' First Quest
They were woken at a very early hour in the morning. Once they had their breakfast they were brought to the gates. Valardor met them there and gave them some mute bags containing the rations and supplies that they needed on this quest along with a map.
"Here, this is an enchanted map. It will lead you to wherever it is you need to go." He said as he gave it to her. "Now, I have one personal request."
"What?"
He touched the center of her chin.
"Do refrain from allowing a scar to mark that beautiful face of yours." He said and then his eyes dropped to Scar. "Yours too. After all you may be cute now, but I can tell that you will grow to be a greatly beautiful woman."
With a cheeky wink they left. They looked at their map and spored that there was a glowing people line that they knew that they must follow. They followed the line the whole day only taking sorry breaks for mael times. They soon logged down to see that the map line was leading them directly in the cave so they walked in. Both made sure to check for traps first. They walked to the back, where there was a wall built there. They soon noticed that there were words written on the wall.
Only the wisest and strongest
will obtain the treasure within.
"Wonder what that means?"
"It means that there are times where we will have to think our way out." Scar said as she noticed the darkness and knew that beyond the door it would be darker.
Now if we only had a-
She then heard Charlotte scream.
"Your hand's on fire!"
She frowned as she looked down to see that what she was saying was true! Yet somehow, she was alright. She looked at it momentarily afraid, yet she quickly noticed that she was neither in pain nor was she burning. She wondered why this was.
"It seems that we do not need to worry about it. It doesn't seem to be burning so I don't think that there's any danger."
"Why's it not burning?" She asked.
She gave her a puzzled look with an annoyed tone.
"Powers?"
Her look relaxed and nodded.
"Well, he did say I would have easier access to them." She said. "Now, anyway. We don't have much time."
She used the other hand to open the door.
"Now, be careful, look at every place you step!"
"Excuse me! Who's the adult here?"
"You have a better idea?" She asked challengingly.
"No, it's just you don't need to take on all the responsibility that's all?"
"I know it's just, we both know who's the smart one here?"
"Smart enough to get a slap?"
She opened her mouth to speak but then decided against it.
"You're not wrong. However I do think that we need to eat first." She said as she spotted a torch and then walked up to it and then placed her hand on it.
"Yeah, you're right there."
They soon ate, interestingly the fire did not get in the way as they ate. It was almost as if it was not even there. After they had eaten they went in further they made sure to keep their eyes watching their surroundings. They had noticed a few arias that they knew were traps and were able to go around them.
Then they came to two doors. In the center was a silver plaque. They walked directly to the plaque as they knew that they would be killed if they did not. They looked at the words.
One leads to death,
One leads to life,
One represents evil,
One leads to good,
One is the hand of doom!
"That helps!" Charlotte said sarcastically. "How are we to know which one we should pick based off that?"
Scar was close to the plaque and looked closely at the words and muttered them under her breath. They did this again as she started to rub the tip of her hat. She then muttered them slowly. She then straightened up and suddenly she had a spark in her eye. She then went to the eight and opened the door.
"Hey, what are you-"
"Left hand was once believed to be linked to the devil."
She then looked at the riddle and suddenly not only understood but wondered why she hadn't thought about it sooner.
"Oh!"
They walked down a corridor and started to smell greenery. They thought that they were going to get out of the cave, when they came to a chamber that was well lit as there was a large hole in the top where the light of the day ran down. They could feel a light breeze as the moisture in the air cooled them down. Their eyes dropped to a green cloud and then that dropped to a forest beneath the cloud.
"What beauty!" Scar gasped.
"So we go through the forest?"
"Obviously."
They entered the forest, still ensuring that they watched where they walked. They soon came to the center of the forest where they saw a small round table on a large stone dug into the ground. As they walked to the table they noticed that there were four runes around the table. Each representing earth, wind, for and water.
"So what's this about?"
"I don't know. But it must have something to do with these symbols."
Charlotte looked around and then looked down.
"Do you think that we should match the symbols?"
"With what? No, it must have something to do with something else. But you are on the right track in looking around though." She said as they looked around.
Then they spotted a red wooden box underneath a tree. They walked over to it and then dug it up. They soon took the key that they got from the sphinx and then dug it into the keyhole and then opened it. Inside was a green scroll. They then went to the table and unrolled it.
"So we are to insert the scroll at the center and match the opposite to the wheel." She said. They then spun it to the opposite on the table. The scroll shone and the paper sank into the table.
"Wow!"
"Now what?"
"Well we must spin the table."
"Oh."
She got hooks of the wheel and as she spun they rose up higher and higher and then the stone surrounding then dropped. They soon walled down and when they reached the bottom the stone rose up cutting off their exit. This was when they became aware that Scar's hand was no longer on fire. Yet they soon found that they had light via glowing mushrooms on the ground and drywalls in the ceiling, giving the illusion of the stars.
"That is beautiful!"
"Yeah… It is…"
They walked on and even though a part of them wondered when this cave ended, yet it was so beautiful that they did not want it to end. They all gaped as they walked and kept silent. They could do nothing but marvel at the beauty of the cave. Yet they came to the end nevertheless. They spotted glowing words engraved into the wall of the cave.
My heart devours,
My colour many,
My red cold,
My blue hot
"Oh great, another riddle." Moaned Charlotte.
"Yes. Now shut up, I need to think." She said as she started to rub the tip of her hat. She went through the words again and slowly.
"Fire!" She soon said.
"How?"
"Fire devours, it also has many colours and blue fire is hotter than red." She explained.
Suddenly the ground started to shake beneath them. They both crouched as they did not wish to lose their balance. Then the ground fell and they were going down as their surroundings rose up. They soon came down to the bottom. They looked up at the glowing crystals in the ceiling of the new floor. Then the rock beneath them rested and then they were hit with the blue fire.
"So it is hotter!" She said. "How did you know that fire could be blue?"
"I-"
"Was it those witches?"
"No. I read it in a book!"
"Oh!"
They soon followed the trail of the blue fire. This led them to the shield. It was a strange silver with sapphire shaped into a blue fire with three flames at the top. Around the edges were strange red jewels that they both knew were not rubies.
"Wow, that's beautiful!"
"Both the sword and shield are both beautiful." Scar said as she put it on. "Fits perfectly!"
"Yeah… It does…" she said. "I wonder why-"
Suddenly a light appeared in front of them was a blue creature that had a humanoid form and glowing white and blue eyes that glowed. When the creature growled it revealed a set of piranha like teeth the colour of bronze. Then with a roar it ran to them. They both ran up to it and Scar instinctively thrust the shield in front of her. Then she hit the creature's head and then the red jewels shone bright and then the creature was set alight.
Then light rose around them and they soon found that they were both at the beginning of the cave.
