Bounty Hunter Bash Isle Heat Lock Part Five

 The Next Isle

They all rowed and rowed as Cerpheres hummed away as he played his violin along with Strena, who was getting better.

“Will you quit it!” Bash and Chashathrophogh snapped.

Strena jumped slightly.

“What! I’m only keeping up morale.”

“No you are not. Also, don’t hide behind Strena.”

“Really?”

“Yes.”

“Prove it!”

Both of them rolled their eyes.

“Not convinced? Alright!”

He then looked at Strena.

“Do you know any more songs?”

She looked down and frowned.

“I dunno…never thought about it.”

“See you’re keeping up with your lessons.”

“Yes. It’s the only thing that keeps the feeling of dirtiness away.”

“Good girl.”

She smiled slightly shyly.

“Why don’t you sing something?”

“Don’t entertain him.”

She looked down for a moment but then her eyes lit up and brightened up.

“Go on! Go for it!”

That was when Chashathrophogh and Zaryb took a warning glance at him.

“Urm…”

She frowned for a moment.

“Hero of past,

In the time of the Black,

Did he last,

Surviving each, every attack!

“Legend of yore,

Mad to the core!

“None knew his mind,

No sanity he can find,

An ambitious storage little lad,

Phorap Philosopher The Mad!”

“That was good.”

Her smile became shier as the boat hit the sand.

“Concidering your breaking voice. So keep it up and wait until it has properly broken and I bet you’re gonna get the voice of an angel of the Great Being.”

“Don’t put those ideas in her mind.”

“Why not?” He asked, shrugging.

“I don’t want her to get too big for her own boots!”

He nodded.

“Alright!”

“So, where are we?”

Cerpheres frowned and his eyes widened and yet he relaxed and smiled.

“Who knows?”

“You do!” Both Bash and Chashathrophogh snapped again.

“Fine! It’s a long isle the shape of a long roll of bread. On the other end, if memory serves, there’s a cave that goes under water which safely leads to the next isle.”

“Couldn’t you have just said that?”

“And miss the opportunity to annoy you two beauties?”

Both growled at the man.

“What do you expect?”

He looked around.

“What’s the magic word?”

They growled.

“Just do it.”

“Fine! It’s alright.”

“Oh good.”

“Until nighttime!”

That was when Leonardo went pale.

“Why? Is it bad?”

He smiled whimsically and licked his lips.

“I wouldn’t worry about it, if I were you!”

“A-alright!”

“Be honest!”

His smile turned slightly mischievous as he licked his lips again.

“You’ll find out!”

“Let’s just get to the cave before the heat gets to us. Our potions have ran out!”

“Oh!”

Cerpheres’s jaw dropped.

“What! No!”

She was about to comment.

No. The last thing I want is to entertain him.

They all walked on and on and on, yet they could feel the tiredness in their arms and legs, especially after spending day and night rowing. Yet as they pushed on and on they knew that they had to rest. So they found a tree to rest under.

“Right. Time for another lesson!” Cerpheres purred as he went into teaching Strena more advanced violin techniques. As she did them she found some harder than others. Which she did slowly as the sun started to drop she was able to get slightly faster than at first.

“Should we get some sleep?”

“Yeah.. Sounds nice!”

“I wouldn’t!”

“Why not?”

He licked his lips and smiled deviously.

“The nights here are quite dangerous!”

They all frowned as the sun went down.

“Well, get out your weapons!”

“What!”

That was when they all heard something behind them. Yet it came at them with such a fast pace that the moment that they looked back they saw a strange draconic lizard without wings and saliva. Bash loaded her bow and fired at the head.

“Told you!”

“What is that?”

“A comodo dragon. Some of my crew were killed by five of them. Although after some touched the saliva they died too. So just be careful!”

“Maybe the saliva is venomous?”

“Maybe…”

Cerpheres touched his chin.

“Although, I don’t think that it’s a good idea to let down your guard.”

They nodded.

“And why tell us this now?”

“We could have lit a fire or something!”

“Nah! Would attract way too much attention, my dear artist!”

“Wow! You can be useful when you want to be!”

“I do try every now and again! Especially when any of my precious books are at stake!”

That was when Bash spotted one behind Zaryb and Leonardo. She fired at one after the other. That was when a group came at her from behind. Quickly Zaryb threw several tiny daggers at them. That was when Chashathrophogh saw several coming at Strena. Quickly he threw some of his fire balls at them and soon he was eclipsed by fire. Then several tiny daggers of his own.

“See you’ve kept it up, old friend!”

“Well you taught me well!”

Zaryb half smirked as he looked at Bash. He noticed some tiny bugs were about to fall upon her. He dived at her back as she saw them. Quickly she set them on fire.

That was when Cerpheres threw his stars above Chashathrophogh and that was when some snakes fell upon the floor. Their blood splatted on them.

That was when they saw a large one by his head. He span and flicked out a blade and the snake’s head fell. He too got the blood on him. He chuckled as he licked his lips as he quickly threw his stars at more of the lizards and set more bugs on fire before they could reach Bash and Zaryb. Then ended it with biting the head off a snake before it’s jaws hit his neck and slit the head off another before it could bite his ankles like he was in a graceful dance, killing three.

Then they all looked around as they saw more of the lizards. Bash fired arrow after arrow after arrow at them again and again and again. Her quiver magically restocked with clean arrows. Yet that was when she saw other lizards and fired at them. Only to see that they were alligators! Yet as she realized this she dived out of the way and fired at one after the other again and again and again the moment that she saw them.

She looked to the left of Cerpheres’s head and fired and a cat-like creature fell.

He looked back and chuckled.

“What?” She asked as she continued to fire as the moon rose up to the centre of the isle.

“It was merely a wild cat!”

“Here?”

“Yes.”

Then they looked around them. Nothing more came despite them all staying awake the whole night.

“I think we need to move.”

So they trekked on and on and on until the sun finally came up. Then they all collapsed and then went to sleep. Where they stayed until the afternoon where they moved on.
