Strena The Vengeful Ones Part Four
The Assassin
The following day Strena looked down brooding as she looked at her reflection in the lake that they had set up camp next to.
Looks like now that Grasharlo’s back from the dead, she’s been telling all those who hate dad who and even where I am. Guess that I am going to have to get used to the idea of being a target for the rest of my life. However long that is…
She curled up as she let out a sigh before taking a sip of her tea. They were soon approached by a woman that she remembered from the assassin’s guild.
“I know you!” She remarked.
She looked at her and smiled, masking her dismay.
“Yeah! It’s been ages! My you’ve grown! You were only seven when I last saw you! How’ve you been?”
“Alright. You?”
“Never been better! So you’re still stuck with gloomy Zarry, I see.”
Zaryb huffed.
“I am not gloomy! I just have a lot to deal with. By the way, do you have any booze?”
“No. You’re staying sober!”
“Just one!”
“Of course! How did you know?”
“You always have one on you!”
“Just in case I run into you. After all, I don’t want the other you to come out and terrorize me, again.” She laughed nervously, pulling out the beer and giving it to him. She then took out several more.
“In fact, I was out shopping recently and I got some juice.” she said, handing a bottle out to each of them.
Shrena looked down at it. She opened it and smelt it. Here seemed to be nothing wrong with it so she took a sip. The rest followed.
“So, what are you doing here?”
“On a job.”
“What job?” Zaryb asked drinking more.
“An heir of a tyrant and you know how much I love to put down tyrants in waiting.”
“And who hired you?”
“Ahken Naaken.”
Strena’s eyes widened as she became pale. She looked at her as her sense of security was ripped away from her. She felt her heartbeat in her ear as she looked at her, feeling very hurt. She could feel her tears fall before she could stop them.
What? What? Why? Why?
Then she remembered what she had said.
“You know how much I love to put an end to tyrants in waiting!”
‘Tyrants in waiting’? She called me a tyrant in waiting! Does she really think that I’m really going to become like dad?
Then she saw her vision focusing in and out as she saw, by the look in her eyes, she did. She could feel the sweat come as her eyelids drop.
No! She thought as she fell and all went black. The others soon followed.
The assassin got to her feet and pulled out a knife. She knelt in front of the girl. She brushed the hair out of her face and stroked the F shaped scar and looked at Zaryb’s and stroked her own. Then she placed the blade to her throat. She was about to cut when she felt herself fly away from the girl. She landed on the grass
She frowned.
What? What’s going on? I used the blue draft! All who drank should-
She felt Cerpheres on her before she could complete the thought. She felt a hand on her throat. He looked at her with a sick and sadistic smile. He licked his lips as he squeezed and squeezed and squeezed. She went to stab him but her body became completely paralyzed. Yet she looked at him with anger.
“You know, I’m glad that they’re asleep. You see, I have been needing to kill something for quite some time now. After all, that girl, that you were about to kill, has such a large potential of greatness and I won’t let an ideological fool who calls herself an assassin like you get in her way! See, that girl is destined to do great things and I think that it’s a waste if you, who knows nothing about her, cut it all short. Don’t you think so?”
She choked as he put more pressure on her throat. He put on a false sad look on his face.
“Now, don’t you think that judging her by the sins of her father a bit harsh? Well!”
He pulled her up by her throat and thrust her head into the ground.
He let go. Her mind and senses were all disoriented. He then punched her in the face again and again and again and then stopped. She looked back up in anger as he leaned in.
“Tell me, do you want to know what Arielsa is like? She’s actually quite a sweet, sweet girl. A little timid but even when she gets over that she will still be a good, good girl. Honestly, she thought her father was a good man. Yet she has only just recently found out that he was evil and it really devastated her, poor thing. Almost destroyed her potential for greatness until I shocked it out of her. You tell me that you like to put down tyrants in waiting?” He whispered, stroking her cheek. He laughed as he looked up for a moment before sliding his gaze back to her and leaned in closer to her ear.
“It makes me wonder, how many little children did you kill using that as an excuse?” He purred before kissing her cheek. She looked at him shocked.
“How many of them were good little children? So sweet, so kind, so innocent, only for a cruel woman like you to cut their little lives short?”
She glared at him as he laughed.
“You see we are in the same boat but do you want to know the difference between us?”
She rolled her eyes.
“I don’t pretend to be otherwise!” He whispered before her eyes widened. Something struck and died inside before her tears fell. He smiled, feeling satisfied as he slit her throat.

When Strena woke she remembered what happened and she wept before she could stop herself. She curled, trying to hide them.
“I told you-”
“Please shut up, dear old friend!” Cerpheres purred before both him and Chashathrophogh looked at her and wrapped their arms around her. She could feel herself shaking as she did.
“It’s alright! It’s alright.”
“Yiu don’t have to hide them anymore.” Chashathrophogh said, holding her firmly like her father once did with Cerpheres stroking her back like her mother once did.
