The Strange Peculiar Bizarre Town The Witch Part Three

 The Book Of Names

They arrived as they walked in.

"So how are we going to find it?" Jaden asked as she looked at her.

Melinda looked at the centre of the room. There, on a black desk, was a big and thick book. It had a flaking leather cover with a large gold plaque screwed into the upper centre of the front. Then she saw that then noticed that the edge of the pages had tiny flakes of gold like stars. On the plaque was writing.

THE BOOK OF NAMES

Melinda raised her eyebrow as she could not help but laugh. Matilda frowned and looked at it and also laughed. Soon Danté and Doctor Stephiene joined in.

"What? You don't seriously think that that's the real Book Of Names do you?"

Melinda walked up to it and opened it. She saw rows up on rows and columns and columns of names. All of them were written in blood. This wiped the smile off her face.

"What is it?"

"It's written in blood."

"What?"

They all rushed to it. Danté sniffed it and his eyes widened.

"The names are written on the blood of those that they belong to."

"What?"

"How?"

"Are you sure?"

"Yes. Believe me, I know all of those scents."

Melinda looked at it with anger.

"But when?"

"She has the hospital in her pocket. When wouldn't she have the chance?"

"Oh."

"Then we need to get out of here as soon as we can and burn this book."

"Wait, how did you know that destroys magic?"

"I don't. I just want this blasted thing to be burnt. So that I would never have to look or think about this thing ever again."

"Oh."

Quickly Melinda snatched the book and they ran down the stairs. They ran and ran down step after step. Yet they could not reach the bottom. So they ran and ran until their thighs hurt. Yet they still pushed on and on.

"Oh, why can't we get back to the bottom?"

"Oh! I forgot! We're supposed to be jogging, not running." Matilda remembered.

They nodded as they started to jog. They soon were able to get to the bottom. They ran down to the door. Then they whipped the door open and it closed behind them.

Yet they looked down to see that their path was blocked by spiders! They were everywhere on the stone pathway. There was not an inch of room showing the stone beneath. Yet on top of the spiders were centipedes, millipedes and ants. In the sky in front of them were bees, flies, wasps and hornets

"How?"

Melinda then threw a fireball at the bugs and the spiders on the ground. She then looked at the bees, wasps and hornets in the air. She raised the heat in all of their bodies. The next moment they burst into flames. She then saw more coming. She then focused upon them.

Then her eyes dropped now to the bugs below. She focused upon the spiders beneath. She raised the heart in their bodies again and again. Soon they combusted into a river of fire.

Quickly she threw the book in the flames as her attention returned to the air as more and more bees, wasps and hornets came. She set them on fire. She looked down as parted the fire, knowing that she had to get them out of there.

"Go on!" She called. "I'll deal with them."

They nodded as they ran on and the moment that she saw the wasps and hornets she set them alight. Then she saw more and more come. She made sure that she set them alight before they could get anywhere near them. Then they ran on to see that their way was blocked. She set them alight and patted the flames. They then ran on. She saw another and she repeated the action. They ran on and out of the gate.

Good.

She was about to run too when she saw some gathered in front of her. She set them alight and ran on. That was when she felt a series of painful stings coming from her back. She looked back and set them all on fire. Then she ran on, pushing past the pain. She saw a wall block her. She soon set them alight and she looked back to see a swarm racing to her. She set them alight and she ran on and finally reached the gate.

She looked back for a moment to see that the bugs and spiders were all completely alight. Her eyes dropped to the Book Of Names as it turned to ash. Suddenly she felt something in her snap like a rope of elastic that had been around her since she came to this town had been stabbed. She smiled, relieved as she turned to leave. She then walked in.

She looked up and her eyes widened with shock, horror and confusion. She found herself looking at the hallway of Wendy Wonderlust's house! She quickly looked left to right to realise slightly dreadfully that she was completely alone.

Knew that was too easy!
