Bounty Hunter Bash Wedlock Part Two

 Bash’s Strike

The first place Bash visited was the nearest pub. There they ordered their drinks and looked at the board to see that her face was on it, more specifically, her thirteen year old face, back when she had that fiery red curly hair and not the straight black hair of her fourteen year old which she had to this day. She smiled almost whimsically as the drinks came. She had grown up since then, since all those years ago when she set off to avoid being married off, back when it was legal to do so at that age. Yet even though it was fifteen now, she still did not like it. However, she could not help but appreciate the irony of the whole situation as she laughed a little. She ran away to avoid marriage, now she was going to get married to avoid another marriage! If her mother saw her now, she would laugh too.

Then she saw her uncle Chashathrophogh’s. She looked at him and the poster. It hardly looked like him at all! It was too ugly and made him look just as insane as Dark Lord Gajellidor Darcrogh and Dark Lady Grasharlo. Yet the only thing that matched was the black clothing. Yet, as Cerpheres keeps on ‘misplacing’ all his black shirts and coats, while he was wearing a bit of colour it hardly matched him at all!

“Are we-”

“Shh Strena! It will be alright. Those posters are out of date or inaccurate to us. So we should be fine!”

“Why are we here?”

“To gather intelligence.” She said as she looked at the group to the left. “What’s the newest these days?”

“Well our wannabe King Skylar fancies he’s gonna marry Drew!”

“You mean Bash The Touchable?”

“The very one!”

She nodded, taking a swing to hide her prideful smile.

“And what if she doesn’t show?”

One shrugged.

“He’s gonna use a substitute! So, she don’t need to be here for the wedding to take place.”

“And who’s the substitute?”

“A serving girl!”

“Recon he’s been wanting to knock her up for a while. But she keeps on refusing him!”

“And what made her agree?”

“He put her in a position where she can’t say no.”

“Did he take her family?”

“Yeah, and he says if she plays her part, he’ll let her go and be paid well.”

“Personally, I think that he’s been after Bash for a while now.”

“And why is that?”

“She’s The Touchable! I reckon he wants to bring that girl down!”

Right, so that’s what I have to work with?

“And where would this serving girl be?”

“In the tower over there!”

He pointed towards a tower in front of a draw bridge.

“And her family?”

“In the tower on the other side. Just near the castle dungeons.”

She took a sip and nodded slowly.

“Right Uncle, Cerpheres and Strena, go and rescue the family. Me, Zaryb and Leonardo will go for the girl!”

“Right!”

“What? Are you touched in the head?”

“You can’t do that!”

She laughed.

“You’d be surprised what I can do!”

“Knew it!”

“She’s mental!”

“Think we should stop talking to her or her craziness will spread all over the place!”

“You needn’t bother. We’re going anyway!” She said getting up and walking towards the tower.

She pulled up her hood and tested her hand on her bow as she saw the guards. She looked up at the windows which all had bars over them. She then counted each and every window to estimate how many floors there were. At a whole, there would be ten floors. She looked up to see twin drops of rain. She looked up and followed them as there were no other raindrops and the sky was clear. Then she saw the woman, resting her head on the bars that were so narrow that not even a mouse could fit through.

She closed her eyes and buried her anger as she breathed in and out. Then cleared her mind of emotion and opened her eyes. She was ready now.

Don’t worry lady. You’re going to be fine.

She ran all around the tower, keeping close and in the bushes. She spotted that behind were ten guards.

“Not getting in there!” Whispered Leonardo.

“So how are we getting in?”

Bash closed her eyes in dread.

“Looks like I’m going to have to kill.”

“Are you alright with that?”

“Don’t have a choice.”

“Maybe I could blow up an area nearby?”

“Please do.”

He nodded and after five minutes an explosion was set off near the guards.

So she loaded her bow and fired at the one at the back. The two at either side looked at him before she fired at the both. Then she was at the third pair when the rest turned back and she fired at the fourth pair before the ones still at the front raced to the back as she fired at one after the other as they came closer and closer to her location. Yet she was able to rapidly take each and every one of them down.

Then she saw the other group run on. She quickly hid the bodies in the bushes. Then ran to the door. She went to open the door only for it to be locked. Then she went to pick it.

No. With me here there’s nothing to stop them from killing her.

So she jumped onto the nearest barred window. She gripped the bar before she jumped up the next bar and the next bar. That was when she heard a dog barking. She looked down to see a group of dogs racing towards the dead bodies. Knowing that the moment they discovered the bodies, then the guards inside would be alerted.

She closed her eyes and bit her lip as she willed the dogs to see a lion, just to see if it would work. As she did this, she could feel the dark joy coursing within her. Yet she gripped the bars to prevent her from getting lost in it. Then she heard the whining as they raced away.

She let out a sigh of relief as she looked on to see a maid, holding empty bowls and used cutlery. She put her finger to her lips.

“Shh!” She whispered with a wink.

She looked down and nodded as she walked on. She jumped on and on and on. She looked down, keeping an eye out for stray animals and looked on for guards and maids. She went up and up and up and soon as was on the roof. She climbed up higher to the point of the roof. She dug her heel into the first row of tiles. Once she pushed the row started to fall. She quickly moved to the next and they too started to fall. Once the first row fell she moved onto the next one and the next one and the next one. Then she dug her blade into the wooden beam beneath her. She did this again and again and again until the wood fell.

“Oi! What was that?”

“I dunno! Just keep guarding, will you? It’s probably a mouse!”

She smiled as she moved onto the next one and the next one.

That was when she heard the dogs barking. Then a ripple of desperation spread throughout her body. She knew that she could not stop the dogs now, not when she had a job to do. She quickly dug into the next wooden beam and the one after that. She was able to break that one and forced herself to hit faster and faster. She broke that one too. Then she heard a woman screaming. At this she punched down and landed upon the stone tiles below. She had to use her magic to pull the door off it’s hinges and raced down.

She came to the first room beneath her. The moment she saw the serving girl she noticed her strange and otherworldly ice cold beauty combined with innocence. Her hair was black and grey eyes next to pointed ears. She grabbed her and pulled her out.

“Who are you?”

“Bash.”

“My family-”

“Are currently being rescued by my friends and Uncle.”

“Hold on! You are the one-”

“Shut up! We need to get you out of here!”

She nodded.

“But-”

“The wedding will not happen, and I am going to take down Skylar!”

Her eyes narrowed.

She was about to speak when she heard the guard coming. She turned down and loaded her bow and fired at the first one and the one after that.

“Thought you were a princess! Why did you do that?”

“Work or out! As an elf of the Angleuro continents you should have the intelligence to do that, Miss!”

“Actually I was born here!”

She nodded as she fired at another arrow.

“Sorry, Miss!” She snapped.

“Clouris Gurrogh and I am a half elf!”

She nodded.

“As I said, you can work it out!”

That was when a dagger shot at Clouris. Quickly Bash hit it away before she fired at the guard before her. She did this again and again and again before she ran down a step. The moment that she saw the tip of her blade she fired. She took out more and more and more before jogging down more stairs. She did this dance again and again and again and used her magic to push the front door out.

Then they got out and reunited her with her family. Afterwards Bash wrote a letter.

Dear Mother

By the time you read this Skylar would

have been taken down, and I will be married.

That was when she looked at Clouris.

“Has he got more subtitles?”

“Yes.”

Her eyes looked at Zaryb as he took her feather quill.

My name is Zaryb Zuvé and I will be your

daughter’s husband by the time you read

this. I have Chashathrophogh’s blessing

and her agreement.

You will not use her as a bargaining chip

like how my brother did to me. She is not

you nor an extension of you.

Signed

Bounty Hunter Bash ‘Drew McDragonfree’

Zaryb Zuvé

“If you’re going to get married, I know the right church.” An old man spoke that had his granddaughter’s eyes.
